new, suggestions on quit aids?

7 years ago 0 3 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi there. Day 4 quitter here and the struggle is real! I've been using Chantix and I'm getting ready to start the 3rd week of pills. If you have insurance, it's free so that's a bonus. I've found it can make me nauseous so I really have to eat and drink a glass of water with it to help curb the nausea. However, I will say that before I even fully quit the Chantix was working. The cigarettes didn't taste as good and I could really smell them. It's working so far for me!
Good luck everyone!

Welcome Blue Diamonds!

Thinking about quit aids is a very smart decision prior to quitting. Many people can be successful when quitting cold turkey but quit aids are a big support to many other quitters. I encourage you to talk to your doctor about your options. There are some quit aids that needs a prescription - Champix for example.  Let us know what you decide to do.

im on day 3 combination chantix and bupropion my quit day is tomorrow.

I have done chantix in the past it works great to keep the withdraw symptoms off of me, but it comes at a cost im a little snappy with people on week one, because chantix blocks the feel good from the smoke from hitting my brain, and that makes me grouchy lol. but if there is an easier softer way, id say chantix all day long, just make sure your loved ones are aware you will be grumpy for a bit.

Check w/your insurance on coverage. Many do offer coverage of certain drugs & NRT. (nicotine replacement therapy) Not sure how long you've smoke or any specifics but have read much on quitting & success is higher w/assistance of NRT. Google or search & decide what's best for you. Definitely quitting is the best choice & decision we can make! I wish you success! Best if luck!

Hi!I just quit! I started taking vitamins prior & since. I've quit using NRT, patches & gum. I also have several herbal supplements including milk thistle & lobelia! Taste horrible but I've read it helps! Increase water & no matter what just keep on trying to stay away from smoking. Have had many issues since stopping last Sunday & never able to quit in the 47+ years of smoking. For my health etc I want to quit. I wish you success!

Hello everyone! I'm all registered in here, and am excited to give this another go. This time hoping the community support will help to keep me motivated.
I am wondering if and what others have used as quit aids? I had tried in the past the patch and zyban... didn't work for the long term, obviously, but I don't think I had the dedication to stay quit at that time. Wondering if people are going cold turkey or needing help.  Is there coverage for aids now through insurance? What have been peoples experiences?
