Hey River,
No worries about the slip - They happen to all of us. As A Fellow Cold Turkey (No gum/patch/pill) Quitter, I feel your pain. My husband and I both smoked our last cigarette on the 31st of May, And less than 72 hours later He slipped and smoked. We support eachother so we discussed it and he said hes Anxious and just feels very tightly wound. Its not too easy for him when he carpools with a few friends from work and they all smoke, Lol. But We can do it, Its just an uphill battle. My first 3 days haven't been exactly a walk in the park, But I did find a few ways to kind of coast over those moments when I really REALLY want a cigarette.  
I keep my hands busy - Typing, Cleaning, Folding laundry, ETC.
Mornings - I have the worst of my cravings right at the beginning of the day: So I make sure I eat something hands on for breakfast. Granola, Fruit (berrys or slices that can be picked up and eaten a small portion at a time) Stuff to that effect so I have replaced the hand to mouth ritual with something healthy. (Well healthy-ish or not so much. I totally ate Hot Fries for breakfast today.)
I work out -  A lot. If I get a particularly bad craving mid day I go for a run or make my way to the gym thats like a 5 minute walk from me. I know thats not an option for everyone, So maybe yoga or meditation could take its place, I know theres some great how to vids on youtube.

riverrain, is there a reason why you aren't using patches or gum or some other NRT to help cope with the withdrawal? If that's the hardest part for you, then maybe you should consider one or more of them to help ween you off nicotine. I understand not using any of the prescription drugs, there are so many side affects, in my opinion it's not worth it. There are other ways. I'm on day three and am using the patch as well as nicotine gum when I get really bad cravings. My withdrawal symptoms really mess with me, so I've learned that if I can take the edge off those, then I can focus on fighting my other triggers. Just a suggestion. Hope you stay strong and stick it through!

I am sorry to read you are struggling. You are a very strong person to quit even though you are scared of the withdrawal symptoms. Anxiety and muscle tension can be a withdrawal symptom. Chemicals in tobacco smoke affect your entire central nervous system. Because these chemicals have been messing with your nervous system, quitting can cause a feeling of nervousness, which sometimes lasts for a few days. And, when your central nervous system gets back in line, you may find that you have a keener sense of smell, taste, hearing, color and depth perception.

Hi All,
 
I tried so many times before and I'm really scared, the last time I tried was with champix and that just made my life hell, I did however stopped smoking for 3 months though but the meds didn't agree with me.
Now I'm doing it without any meds or patches. 
Second day today and I already slipped, can't believe it, I was so angry and depressed!!!!  Now I have to do it all over again.  I need tips to help me get through the first week at least.
Can it be that i'm so frustrated because i'm not smoking, i'm even grinding on my teeth.  So weird.  It feels as if all my muscles in my body is tensed.
 
I'm sure we can do it.
