Great work Lilo!

Keep reading up on smoking cessation (especially this program and the forums). The more information you can arm yourself with the better  off you will be.

It sounds like you are aware  of a lot of good reasons to quit. How can you remind yourself of these  reasons when you start to crave or have doubts?

Dear Paula,

Well done for choosing to quit again!  Many of us have a few tries.  Do as Jim suggests, and stick with us here at SSC.

You are going to be having a really hectic couple of months leading up to your wedding.  This may or may not help you with your quit.  My 'mind monkey' or 'Nicodemon' as I called him, sat on my shoulder whispering all sorts of reasons why I should give up my quit.  My 'Guardian Angel' sat on my other shoulder, and we had three sided discussions for so long!  It nearly drove me mad, but my side won, or rather my determination not to be beaten won the day.

Stay with us and let us know how you are coping, and how your Hen party went!

Whatever it takes, just don't smoke!

Love Lolly.

Welcome back Paula and The Top O The Morning to Ya!! (even if it is 8 o'clock at night!)

Good decision to quit and I echo all that Jim wrote.

Plus, you will know when you are ready to quit. Don't force it unduly. Set a plan and follow it. There is help here in the guise of a few other quitters but more importantly perhaps, there is a mountain of reading material that will help you through. Read, read, read, post, ask, post, ask and then read read and read again!

Good Luck!

Hey Paula!!!

Congrats for giving your quit another go!  You are right, if you over think it, there NEVER is a right time to quit, but then again, NOW may be the right time!  The right time is when you want your freedom MORE than you want to smoke!  That's the question you have to answer.

You have done the right thing by finding this sight and have started the Program!  The program really works if, like I said, want your quit more than anything and will do what it takes to live by N. O. P. E. ... Not One Puff Ever!  That's all it takes to become a non-smoker!

Continue on with the Program, log in often and read and learn from all of your new quit buddies here!  There is a wealth of information and support here on the Forums, so stick close!  While going through the Program, start to really psych yourself up about this great opportunity to regain your freedom!  The more excited you become about quitting, the easier your quit will be!  You are going to be going to war with the nico-demon and you have to be strong and vow to yourself that you will never lose another battle!  Be strong in your convictions and stay positive!  You CAN do this!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

10 years ago 0 4 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi All,

I'm Paula from Ireland, I'm 29 and have smoked since I was about 14 years old! I quit last February and unfortunately started smoking again in December- almost 9 months under my belt :( I've quit before as well for 18 months. Really want to stop again but I am feeling scared! I'm getting married at the end of March and everything is all quite hectic at the moment! (I do know that this is mind monkeys talking and that I'm coming up with excuses)! My hen party is this weekend and I will be the only smoker out of a group of 20+ women which I'm quite embarrassed about.

I smoke about 20 a day at the moment and I feel awful, very tired, low energy etc. I haven't really been exercising since I started smoking again. My main problem is that I can't think of when is the right time to stop- I know that there's never a 'right time' but I just want to try and set myself up well from the beginning!

Anyways, just thought I'd say hi and introduce myself! Hopefully chat to you all soon,

P x
