Yay! for new positive attitude quitters forging their way into the world as clean breathing clear thinking no smokers!  Quit Buds who find each other at similar stages of their quits really seem to bond here at SSC.  I am really proud of you DebSoFlo, Carols, and Dart - you are an awesome new team of quitters - keep up the great quits so far guys! Your making your 'free dancing' really work!

Carol - I will definitely do the "I'm free" dance with you!! Congrats on 3 weeks if freedom! So so amazing! Cold turkey was actually pretty uneventful for me. Felt a little run down and anxious but by 3rd felt actually very calm! Tomorrow is 3 weeks for me too! I feel like I am giving myself the best present I could ever ask for. Keep staying strong and again, congrats on a very awesome 3 weeks into your quit. Deb

Thanks so much Deb!!!  A quit buddy is a great thing to have :)

We both have many long term habits to reform into different behaviors.  Only practice and time will accomplish that.  Positive self-talk is one of the most beneficial thing we can do for ourselves.  I also use it when needed and do my 'I Am Free' dance.

How has cold turkey been?  I'm down to the low dose 7mg, so hoping it won't be to dreadful when I take off the last patch..

CELEBRATING today, 3weeks behind me and a lifetime of Freedom in front of me

Carols, You are doing so great!!! Our quit days are close. I experience the same feeling after a meal, getting in my car, morning coffee etc. Talk to myself constantly. I know I can't ever take a drag off a cigarette ever. I remind myself constantly. I had same reaction to nic patches. I could only wear them on the upper front thigh. I used them for only 5 days then went cold turkey. I am very supportive of you using whatever method will help you! :) Just letting you know you have a quit-buddy here. Deb

Thanks Vincenza!

Wow 3 weeks tomorrow for me and it's going well.  Looking forward to really dumping 'thoughts' about cigs.  I smoked after every meal/snack for 38 years, that urge still sure exists every time I finish eating something.  But I simply say 'being a non-smoker is easy' and chew a piece of SF gum.  Walk if I need to :)

I'm really having an adverse skin reaction from the patches, red, swollen and itchy for 6-7 days after removal now :(  I switched brands this AM hoping it is in something in the Nicoderm CQ.  If I also have a reaction to these I will see my dr next week.  She will be ecstatic I have quit :)  I don't think I'm ready to come off the 7mg yet so I hope these are better.

Have a great smoke free day all!

Hi Carols,

I am excited to learn that you are heading to the Rockies and looking forward to travelling free of cigarettes!
Not only will you have an easier time at higher altitude, but you will enjoy being able to fill your lungs with fresh mountain air.  What a beautiful and perfect time to enjoy nature.  I hope your vacation is rewarding and relaxing. Keep up the great work - you are nearing the end of zombie month and we'll be here to celebrate with you.

Yes Dart it's quite amazing!

I was making up my packing list and thought 'buy enough cigs' and Laughed Out Loud, won't need them anymore.  It was a very rewarding, liberating and empowering moment :)

Bad news is I got on the scale, now 120.6 :(  Up 4.6 lbs.  Oh well it certainly isn't the number of calories I'm eating so just have to forge ahead.
Day 20 now and nothing will stop me, I'm a non-smoker
