Just a quick point on the app guys, default appears to be the first message posted in a thread when you get a notification of a new message and you have to scroll through to see the latest post. Just makes it a bit tedious when you have 10 or more messages. Other than that, love it! b

Hey Brent! I downloaded it too. It looks to be very helpful! Glad it worked for you! Think of it as another tool in you 'quit arsenal' to beat down that demon with! You know you can do it, one day at a time! Hang in there! Keep checking on your quit meter on your phone, its a great reminder that if you can do one day, you can do ten, or one hundred! Get 'er done buddy!

Hi Brentw1,

I'm very glad to hear that you found the new SSC app helpful and that it 'saved' you from caving!  We're glad to have you back and sharing on the forums.  I think you should have your head held high because you are not giving up and determined to fight this addiction.

By the way, your golden retriever sounds adorable!!  What is her name?  I imagine she has also helped distract you from smoking!

Glad to here you are doing okay on Day 3.I was just wondering if you have a substitute ready for
the next time you come out of a meeting. Now that you are almost past day 3 the key is to break our mental smoking  habits
and replace them with positive healthy ones.Wishing you strength in the days ahead.

I'm absolutely convinced that when I stopped smoking a few years ago (and I managed to stop for several years) it was a combination of really wanting too, knowledge about the addiction and, arguably the most important, the support and help from people on the SSC forum. I would spend many hours on the laptop, posting and reading and it was a huge contributor towards my success back then.

I have crept back to the forum with my head hung low with shame! I started the filthy cigar habit again, have had several abortive attempts to stop again and failed each time...........so here we are again, on day 3 and actually doing OK to date.

I've downloaded the app. Now the app is not going to stop me smoking! The thing that will stop me smoking is me! But it did save me from disaster after a couple of hours. I had thrown away the cigars and matches that morning and had gone into a meeting. Now a major trigger for me is when I come out of a couple of hours discussion and stand by the car in the car-park and light a cigar. The craving was so powerful that I started to look for a shop to buy a pack. the phone pinged and a message came through on the app from the forum. It was enough to stop me from caving into the desire to buy another pack.

So, if you have an iphone, or when SSC gets round to developing other platforms, download it so that you are in touch with the support network when you are away from the internet..........but remember, to stop smoking you need to stop smoking!

NB Got a large hairy Golden Retriever going mad just outside the kitchen doors, if she could speak she would be saying......."QUICK, QUICK, LET ME IN CAUSE I NEED TO GO OUT AGAIN!" (Non dog owners will have to think about it for a few seconds, dog owners will understand immediately!
