Hello Krystal, and congratulations on your decision to quit. From what I have read, each quit attempt has greater odds of success than the last. People learn things aobut themselves and the quitting process with each attempt, and this knowledge raises the odds of a final, successful quit. If you can get the routine down this time, you will save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run. Although I haven't suffered any irreversible effects yet, I still wish that I had quit years ago. I had no idea how freeing it would be to not be repeatedly summoned by nicotine craves each day.

Please check out the tools tab at the top of the board. Some of those tools are quite helpful for sealing the deal. For me, the crave diary was a good one. 10 months into my quit, I probaby don't need to do it anymore. But I am still doing it, just to reassure myself that it has gotten easier over time.

Welcome to the boards. Feel free to post as much as you want. It helps.

Hey Krystal:

14 days is fantastic...You should be very proud of that achievement. There was a time when I couldn't make it 14 minutes let alone 14 days.  You will find this site to be instructive, practical and inspirational.  I credit a lot of the success I have had on my trip to cessationville to the intimacy and insightful commentary of this portal.  Come here often and when you feel the need, just go ahead and write it down here.  You will find that there are a large number of good souls who will respond with much support and encouragement.  Although all quits are different and this is a very singular and individual journey, the addiction does hold within it's sharp claws many commonalities.  If you are running into a particular difficulty, it is almost certain that someone else has too and they will come and offer their insight.

Jim is right, it is a good thing that you recognize the necessity of quitting at a young age.  Success will help you grow and become stronger in the years ahead...

stay well

Hey Krystal!!!

Welcome to the SSC and CONGRATS on nearly a 2 week quit!!!  Awesome!!!  I'm so happy that you didn't quit quitting and found this site!  It's also great that you are trying so hard to beat this addiction while you are young!  You'll definitely benefit from more years of better health and most likely avoid some of the nasties caused by smoking!!!    Hopefully we can give you the support you need and can direct you to the information that will help you  on your journey!

Continue on through the Program and check out the Tools, too!  The information provided will definitely help you to better arm yourself for confrontations with the nico-demon!  Stick close and read and learn from your new fellow quit buddies here on the Forums!  Read and learn and just yell if you need a hand!  We're all rooting for you!

Welcome Krystal124,

First of all congratulations on 13 days. You are almost through Heck Week, one of the hardest weeks when quitting. Good for you for sticking with it even when you were having slips - this takes a huge amount of dedication and strength. It sounds like this strength is paying off - Keep sticking with it, keep trying and you will get there.

Withdrawal symptoms during this time is normal - it will pass. Read through the program for tips and information that will help you cope.

Looking at your past quit attempts what have you learned from them? What will you be doing differently this time?

Hello Everyone,
it is my first time here.
I quit smoking 13 days ago cold turkey. This is not my first quit... it has taken several attepts...they usually last 3 days and I relapse... the longest quit I had has been 16 days (that was this Feb).. I relapsed again for 1 day. Started my quit again the next day and here I am Day 13.
I want to quit for good this time. I want to live a long and healthy life.
I just turned 30 years old. I have been smoking for 7-8 years 5-7 cigarettes a day. While that might not be a lot of smoking i am ashamed to admit that I was really addicted.
I am now having some nasty withdrawal symptoms and cravings too once in a while

Hope everyryone is having a wonderful smoke free day

Krystal
