Hi Max and Humble,
Just keep remembering that you are not "giving up" anything. You are, in fact, gaining freedom, life and health!
Give it horns!

Hey Max!!!

Hang tough, buddy!  Sharpen that sword and go into this war vowing to never lose even one battle!  You CAN do this!!!  Keep your disgust and contempt of the demon right there in the front of your mind and repeat to yourself between deep breaths... NOPE!

Howdy all, there's been an unprecedented upheaval (mainly it must me said...in my head...) over the last couple of days - I'll write more lator tonight when I get a chance. I did take my eye off the ball - but I do crave this quit soooooooo much - alternating with fear of not being able to do it. Especially with what else is going on on  saturday. This is just a quick note to say Hi. And humble...pleased to meet you. This quit would not exist as a going concern for me at all if it wasn't for this site....

Congratulations to both Humble and max london for going another round with this beast. Hopefully, this round will be the one in which you both deliver a knock-out punch to the nicotine habit. We'll be rooting for you.

Hey Hot Jim, thanks a bunch for the welcome and support.  I'm roaring to go.  Today I spoke on the phone with helpline support worker with Canadian Cancer Society.  We set Saturday as my first clean, smoke-free day beginning on my good health journey and she has promised that she or someone else will be calling me regularly so that is so encouraging.  I sincerely believe that we cannot fail because we have faith, courage and enthusiasm.
And to max london may I suggest we chant the above mantra as we squeeze that rubber ball which you got one of or similar facsimile; I have one that lights up when I throw it.  Let's keep laughing and they'll wonder what we're up to.  Three of my sons are celebrating birthdays this month and this will be their present from me as well as one to myself, my friends and my doctor.  Oh, and my neighbour who complained all summer about my smoke blowing over to her balcony; how shameful is that.  Tisk.  It's a mountain we're climbing so let's hang on tight.

Hey Humble,

I wanted to welcome you back to the boards and wish you well as you start your journey anew, if I'm reading your post correctly.  It appears that I was in my inactive spell when you started your original journey, but I'll be here to help this go around!  If you haven't already, you might want to review the Program and whip out that list of coping mechanisms, etc!  They may come in handy!  Once again, congrats and yell if you need a hand!
