Hi Litsa,

It may not feel like it yet, but every day it does get a tiny bit easier as you move closer to freedom and away from this wretched addiction.

All the best

Hey Litsa!!!

Welcome to the SSC and congrats on your decision to give it another go!!!  I, too, found this website while doing some research on the side effects of using Chantix.!  I'm so glad I did!!!  Chantix did a great job of minimizing the gut wrenching craves I experienced on previous quits, but it was the support of all of my new quit buddies here that made the real difference in my success this time!  (thanks everyone!)  I basically lived on this site my first few months to read and learn distract myself from those smoking thoughts!  It can work for you, too!!  Stick close and read and learn from all of your new quit buddies here!  If you have questions, just ask!  All of us here are rooting for you!!!

Litsa:

Welcome onboard the journey to freedom! 11 days on the Quit.. you have gone through possibly the most excruciating part of the addiction. I am proud of th achievement. Now it is a question of keeping it going and taking to heart the pledge N.O.P.E ( Not One Puff Ever Today!). It is done one day at a time.

Cheers!

You can do it!! We can help!!!

Hello Litsa : )  Welcome to a great support community.  There are many who can share their experience and understand your concerns here at SSC. There are some great posts (present & archived) and the program and Quit Meter give you an idea of what's really worked for others.  Looking forward to your posts and progress.  Your avatar is beautiful too : )

Hi Litza,

Glad that you came here for help.  There are people here in all stages of the process--from thinking about quitting to having been quit for several years. I like getting perspectives from people at different points in the process.

You are correct that people who have never smoked don't get what you are going through. That is what brought me to this site. As a nicotine addict, I am sure that the quitting process is way more fascinating to me than it is to most non-smokers. I figured that my obsessing, craving, and working through the various arguments for why I should not take a puff were a bit tiring for my non-smoking friends. So I brought myself here to share thoughts with others who are going through the same head trip.

I think you will appreciate the resources and people who are here to help you quit. Make sure to check out "My Program" and "Tools" tabs above. And read and post as much as you need.

Hi Litsa,

Welcome to the site, I'm glad you found us too. Congratulations on 10 days smoke free! You are almost through Heck week. Thinking about smoking all the time during this period is completely normal. Remember that it will pass, take it one day at a time.

You might find it helpful to work your way through the program. The program will help you take a look at your smoking from a different angle. It will also help you to change your behaviour patterns. A big part of quitting is starting new behaviours in order to replace smoking. How can you change your routine to account for this? Changes may help to distract you from always thinking about smoking.

One change I can suggest is to make posting in the support group a daily activity. Instead of having a cigarette with your morning coffee post some messages and get motivated. Many members here attribute their success to the support they have received in this very forum. We'll help you every step of the way!

Looking forward to reading more from you,
