They say  "Never quit quitting"  so you see, we are doing it..

Going to try again tomorrow May 7 as my quit date, have relapsed to many times this past week...Some days I do ok until I get anxious or around those who smoke..It is my fault always because i let foolish thinking mess me up...Have to stop worrying so much about things happening around me an concentrate on quitting and using my hands doing something...Thanks Red, your note is inspirational, let us know how you are doing....Thanks to all of you for your support..

Roses,

Thanks so much for sharing this update with us. I'm glad to hear that you are OK and despite all of the challenges surgery-related and otherwise, you are still committed to bringing the NOPE message to our members here on the boards.

Your strength and determination is truly inspirational. Please keep us updated about how you're doing post-surgery as I will be eagerly awaiting your news.

Update/ Good News..I am back home from the hosp. and I have 6 days under my belt now..

It has been tough but it would be a lot tougher if I smoked again..I spent 4 1/2 days on oxygen and had to have breathing treatments every 4 hours starting in recovery and until I came home this last Friday..The doctors say my lungs should get back to what they were before my surgery. Meaning to lungs of a person that smoked for 40 years and it was going to take several weeks to months for that to happen. The doctors said this doesn't happen to every one who has kidney cancer surgery but that the surgery is hard on the body and in my case it was hard on my lungs too because my lungs were not in very good shape before I went into surgery..To many years of damage from smoking..It was very very scary gasping for every breath..I am still in a compromised situation..and can not even walk into the drug store without a wheelchair at this point..but I have hope and faith that it will get better in time..All I have to do is Never Take Another Puff..or if you prefer NOPE...

I felt I need to post this and not because I want sympathy..I did this to myself..I do not want sympathy..I posted this to show everyone here that is still smoking or thinking about going back to smoking what happened to me because I  continued to smoked..You never know when this will happen to you but if you keep smoking it is going to happen that is for sure..Also I wanted to share that smoking is one of the causes of kidney cancer..not to mention all the other cancers it causes..plus not being able to breath and not getting enough oxygen to your brain and your other organs..They need oxygen and blood to survive..We do not know if the surgery got rid of the cancer yet we will know in a few months when I start having  followup cats scans...

Smoking Kills....Of course it is your choice if you smoke or not..It is your choice if you live or not..I just hope you do not wait to long to quit and that you stay quit forever.

Awesome, y'all!!!

Welcome to the SSC and get ready for some major ups and downs!  Our hope is that you will experience more ups than downs... just let us know how we can help!  Since your quit dates are so close together, you should all become great quit buddies!  Share your quit experiences here on the forums and do what you can to support each other!  It is much easier going through this process with someone who is going through it at the same time... sort of like misery likes company!!!

We're all rooting for your success in kicking that demon's butt!!!
