Looking good, keep it going Roses and everyone else:)

and Thank Eyja - that is so true.   "It helps to be aware of those moments that you find yourself saying "But I feel sooo good now and Just One would be such a treat tonight with my glass of wine . . .""

I was 100% at that point today but glad I came here to read instead :)

Hey Rose!!!

You have your numbers now... watch them grow!  You're doing great so far... just keep on taking it one day at a time!  Every day that goes by that you do not smoke is a major achievement, so reward yourself often for every smoke free day and every crave that you endure.  A reward a day (or more) will keep ol' nic at bay!!!
It will continue to get easier and easier as time goes on, but try not to look too far into the future.  Go into every day with a Positive Mental Attitude, as best as you can.... it will make a world of difference!  The demon preys on those negative thoughts, as they weaken us and our resolve.  So, try to stay in that happy place in your mind and keep the demon weak!  Easy stuff, right?

Have a great smoke free weekend!

                     Jim

Good morning Eyja.. and thank you for being one of  my cheer leaders today. It really does help when you have others cheering you on..

Well today is Day 11 and I am really doing very good with this quit..I have had lots and lots of bumps in the road on this quit and have not given into one of them yet..Of course I do need to keep a watchful eye for them, because I am still pretty green in my quit and the craves are still there nagging at me..I have been angry, sad, happy and cried lots in this quit but I still have not given into the nicotine addiction yet..One thing that keep me going is remembering my stay in the hospital last week and how hard it was to breath after surgery..and how I had to have breathing treatments and oxygen 24/7..This really scared the daylights out of me and I feel I am lucky to be alive and breathing right now..If I smoke I will end up in the hospital again and next time I may not be so lucky..

Today I am feeling good and breathing easy again because I don't smoke anymore. I am one of the lucky ones. I have been given a second chance at life and I want to enjoy every minute of it..and of course that means I can... Never Take Another Puff...NTAP.. or if you prefer  NOPE..

We're experiencing a glitch with the quit meter but a developer is working on it right as I type so hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

Yay for you Red . . .!  Day 10 is wonderful! - now onto Day 11!  Before you know it, a month will be gone and you'll have gained that much more lung power.  By then, the cravings will hit you less  . . . and less . . .and less . . .  as time goes on.  As Jim says, once you've gotten the physical part of the addiction under control you just have to mind the bumps in the road to your freedom!  - With Hell week done and Heck week almost under you belt now, you are truly on the mend now!  How awesome is that?  I find it amazing that our body can rid itself of toxins so quickly only have our mind override our common sense with that 'junkie' thinking and ruin it all with that One Darn Puff!  It helps to be aware of those moments that you find yourself saying "But I feel sooo good now and Just One would be such a treat tonight with my glass of wine . . ."  Of course stress totally loves junkie thinking and may try to trick you into lighting up too!  But just knowing that you may find these 'triggers' hiding like mine fields on a sandy beach (sneaky little devils!) can give you the heads up to step around 'em when you feel them coming!  I don't think you're going to be tricked again though - that quit you have going there sounds pretty strong!  Woo Hoo for you!
You have a great group started here with the new April/May quitters!  Awesome for all of you! Congratulations; you are all doing great!

Hey Jim!!!

Thanks for cheering me on..I will keep a eye out for those bumps in the road..

As for the quit meter I have already gone to setting and edited my quit date and saved it but still couldn't get the meter to show up on my posts..I can see it in my program tool box but it just won't appear in the forums...It is a mystery..I put in feed back with tech help yesterday haven't heard yet and of course you can see that my meter is still not showing in the forums..Oh well..I am trying not to sweat the little stuff...Anyway.. It still would be nice if we could get it working though..
