Newbie, taking my 1st steps

Well, first day of cutting back. I'm up early for a Saturday. Sarted the coffee, delayed my first smoke by 20 minutes. Opened up a fresh pack. Left half of them in the cupboard. I think I'll surf the net then clean up the computer room.

Cheers

Hi Everyone!

Rudy here from the far north (Canada).

I just realized I've been smoking for 25 years now. Boy how time flies! I made it through high school and my first year of college with out smoking. I don't remember why, but I started smoking in my second year of college. Probably the "cool" factor. We'd sit there in the commons room drinking our coffee, playing euchre and smoking. Yeah, we were cool alright. Remember the long hair and the tight Levi's.

I thought about it but haven't tried very hard to quit. I think I gave it one honest attempt that lasted about a week. As I recall, after the first week I rewarded myself with a smoke and that was the end of that.

It's time to quit. For my health and my kid. I feel fine, no problems that I know of. It's just time. Actually I think the financial cost is my first motivator. I feel bad putting my sons health second but hey, I'm an addict.

I've set my quit date as Oct. 4th. I've picked that date because that's my mom's birthday. That way I'll have two parties to go to next year.

Well, as Forest Gump would say "That's all I've have to say about that".

Cheers

Rudy
