I'm always excited when spring arrives. I like warm weather--temperatures in the 70s. That's not too hot or too cold to take on the outdoors. However, with spring usually comes thunderstorms and tornadoes, which can ruin a day or destroy lives. So I find that I have to be a little more guarded than I am in the winter. Plus, I live in Chicago. The fools with the guns come out to play as soon as there is a break in the weather. Whatever ceasefire they had over the winter, begins to erode as spring approaches. I am cautious to an extent, but largely ignore most risks. Life's short, and it is not meant to be lived forever. I make sure my affairs are in order at all times. What I do when it gets warm out is take my cardio work outdoors. Some people can smoke and exercise. I'm not one of those people, and it's not likely that anyone who does that exercises at full capacity. Like I've said before, smoking didn't make me fat, but it kept me from losing the weight. Exercising is a healthy habit that can keep you busy and take the place of smoking. I'm preparing to do a duathlon July 30th--5K run, 18K bike, 5K run.
