Hello fellow Freedom Fighters!

Hi Loulou, Todash, Mitri and Jose!
Glad to see there are a few of us still around.  I'm not here much anymore, but I'm sure enjoying my freedom!  I know a few others from our group who kicked the addiction out of their lives and are also somewhere "at large" enjoying life and all the possibilities that come with it.

Todash, much good mojo for you my friend and happy birthday!    Climbing Everest is best done by putting one foot in front of the other...and please...remember to turn around once in a while to appreciate the view.  It really is stunning to see how far we've come!

Someone asked me recently what I'd learned in this past year.  I thought about that for a while and realized, I've learned that to get something I've never had before, I had to do something I'd never done before.  Four years ago I stopped smoking and the rewards have far surpassed my expectations.  Every year has been an adventure.  Some adventures have been better than others and life has given me some pain and also some great pleasures.  Last year I did so much "new" stuff that my goal this year is to try everything I can possibly try....and next year I should have tons of "new" experiences to share with you!

All my very best!
Pat

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll

So great to see you again Todash and Mitri. Congratulations to both of you, see we made it. Through thick and thin we made it. It was not always easy but I guess the time was right for us. Looks like that for January it is only you and I Todash, let stick together, you too Mitri. How about meeting again next year same day for another celebration, all 3 of us?  Happy 40th Todash whenever your birthday is this year.

Hey old pals, here's to celebrating four years smoke free!

I am truly happy and flabbergasted it's been that long but unfortunately still very much struggling with much that has changed in my life since quitting, trying to piece together things that have been long since broken and hidden in that cloud for so so long.  But there is a quote I read long ago that says 'every day in every way I am getting stronger and stronger'.  I hold that one close.  This quitting thing is such an extreme journey that has so many forks in the road you want to pack it in sometimes.  Which reminds me of another quote, this time Led Zeppelin: 'yes there are two paths you can go back, but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on...'

Join me in an air guitar solo??   I'll keep that on the iPod and move on.  Keep climbing my Everest.

The fact that I actually do turn 40 this year has been a kick in the pants but I've got a new theory...40 is the new 30.  So I'm already on a roll!

Still think of everyone often, and love my fellow quitters as my family.  Happy new year - may 2011 bring you joy and serenity.  My new year's toast this year was to possibilities.  May they find you and may you find yourselves within them.

Where are my quit buddies of January 01 2007. Come on guys and let's celebrate. It has been 4 years. I am such a proud non-smoker. Life is so great when you don't smoke. Loulou
