HI!! I am new here and I want to quit smoking more than anything!

13 years ago 0 653 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I'm glad you are feeling better. Sounds like it might have been low blood sugar- it can drop rapidly after sugary foods. I know you have a lot on your plate right now, but do try to eat regularly and healthily every day. Among other things, it will help keep your mood stable which willl keep you stronger for your quit!

Good luck on Day 4.

Charm, hope you are doing better today!

Well, I have panic attacks and I am not sure if that was what caused the shaky feeling or if lack of food was the cause....I haven't really been hungry since I stopped smoking.  I had alot of sweet stuff today which I am not used to having so many carbs....Like I mentioned, I haven't been hungry since my quit.....but I baked today and tasted some of the sweet stuff......LOL and didn't eat supper til a little bit ago....and the shaky feeling only lasted a short time....

Hello cowgirl,

Be advised that we all may suffer different symptoms when we quit.  Everyone's body will be different and so will the symptoms.

Your hands and fingers may tremble slightly and you may experience increased perspiration. However, the tremor is usually minor, and will subside as your body gets used to not smoking.

How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting.

Tips to help: Frequent warm baths or showers can help dispel both the perspiration and the tremor. If you are concerned, consult your doctor to determine whether it is severe enough to warrant medication.

If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable.

I am feeling shaky and weak...is that a side effect from lack of smoking?  Has anyone else had this happen to them??  I have read all the side effects of withdrawals and haven't seen anyone talk about this symptom, nor is it listed in the program info.......

I am alone today as well.....I could be with my family but my dad smokes and so does my sister....just not ready to face that yet...and I am really not wanting to leave Casey Lee alone either.   It has been a really rough day of fighting the urge to smoke.   I haven't lit up....sure seems tempting but I am hanging in....I don't want to go backwards..I know I can make it through this!!   The first to days weren't as bad as today has been.  It comes it waves....and I keep riding the waves...and distract my thoughts.  Just doing the best I can........

I will keep you updated on Casey in my posts.....I am praying for her to be seen at the vet and put my mind at ease that she will be ok!!  I know God is watching over her and guiding me through my struggle with the demon trying to get me to smoke and helping me to be strong for my dog....and my achievement!

I will for sure keep Casey in my prayers...please keep us updated on her condition throughout the weekend and come Monday when you can get her to the vet.

I am real proud of you..but I do know how hard the holidays can be..I am here alone, which I really don't mind, but I am still having a hard time because of What?? I don't know, it's just there..but will pass in time.

We'll hang in there today...and enjoy it regardless...Right??

Does not sound like a fun experience for either of u but time heals all and Casey lee will will bounce back quickly. Animals always do! Good for u for recognizing that smoking will not help u or casey and u are 100% right! Have a wonderful smoke free Christmas day today!!

Good work, Cowgirl! This a great test for you! Now you can use those other coping skills to help you get through this time.

Since you don't have any other help, this is what I would do if it was a human. My nursing advice is to gently make sure there is nothing in her eye; you could try to decrease the swelling by putting ice on it, if she'll let you. As long as she doesn't seem uncomfortable, rest is probably the best medicine. Don't bother it too much or that could cause further irriation or infection. Do some doctoring, and then let it sit for a few hours.

I hope it will all be ok. Prepare for another challenging day as non-smoker tomorrow!

I agree..........smoking won't help Casey Lee.....And I have not smoked.....I want to but I know it wont help her.......and It will only take away all my hard work to get where I am now.......almost through my second day.   I am just stressing and trying to deal the best I can.  As far as loving and all on Casey...she is resting and is really not into having me make all over her......all I can do is keep cleaning the eye and putting antibiotics in it.   Unfortunately, the vet is closed til Monday.....I am just praying the swelling will go down some and that she eats.....
