Greg...That meter is a good tool. I think the first couple of months I will go walk around town on the weekend (that will be the hardest to get thru) and buy me a little something with the money I saved that week.

Tresa...Your start date says 12-07 but were you a member of SSC back in 2002? I do believe I remember a Tresa??

breather...Thanks for the input and you are so right about the "fine tuning" it will be something that will need to be done off and on the rest of our lives. I remember my Mom saying, years after she had quit cold turkey..that she still from time to time thought she would like a cig...she didn't do it tho.

I'll be in touch

Welcome back charm ,  One's too many and 8000 cartons never enough. On a previous quit I decided or rather ( the committee ) decided that I would buy a pack and just have one when I absolutely needed one. Needless to say that I couldn't just have one. Aparently we need to keep fine tuning and perfecting the quit until we get it right. Excellent that you're back. breather

They all had zeros at one time. 55 days ago that's what mine said, now it's 54. Not big but it grows each day. I find it a big help. The desire to have one in the thousands, like so many members have, is a strong drive for me. I didn't think much of it at first, but it has turned out to be one of the most used tools I have. Greg

Charm, welcome back to the SSC!  Take what works and update your quit plan so you won't have that urge to smoke on a milestone date!  Rewards are good, so small rewards for each passed cravings, a medium reward for each smoke free day, and a larger reward for each smoke free week.  I recommend setting up your quit meter and adding it to your posts from "my profile" so you can see your numbers increase every time you post.  We're all rooting that this will be your final quit!
My Mileage:

My Quit Date: 8/20/2008

Cigarettes Not Smoked: 30,040
Amount Saved: $7,510.00

Thanks Cristina and Josie...I am going thru "My Program" step by step..it is reminding me of things I had forgotten. I believe with that and the help of the forums here I will be ready by Oct 1st.

(just a side note...I do not have THAT husband anymore or any other husband for that matter. lol)

Charm,

Welcome to our support community! You know what it feels like to quit and just how quick that can be taken away.  Take the precautionary measures and be ready!  You and your son can back each other up and use each other for support.  Take the time to post with us and ask questions.  We are here to help and support you, in any way we can.

Look through the program
Prepare yourself
Reward yourself
Make a pledge

Ready when you are!

(Don't worry about the Hall Of Fame!)  Make that your goal!

Welcome to the SSC, Charm. I love the attitude - needless to tell you how important that is. If you want, take a little time to go through "My Program". I know, it's not your first round - but you can help yourself by realizing what made you lose your previous quit (s).
Keep the quit
Cristina

I have a bit of trivia for you...I just looked into the "Hall of Fame" for January 2002..That was me. I am so embarrassed...

I do plan on making it last this time...with, of course, your help again..
