Hi Linda and welcome back to the land of non smokers.  You're going strong and with that previous five year quit under your belt you've got a lot to draw from when it comes to knowing how to be quit.

Be sure to reward yourself often and try and have a good long think about why you started back again.  You've got plenty of time to change the triggers that got you there and to make this quit your final one.

Wishing you all the best.  Stick close and post often as they say, this is a great supportive group and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Well as of 3:15p.m. today I have still not had a cigarette since Monday at 11:05 a.m.  Been a rough week at times.. but I have survived it with no help from meds or drugs... well maybe a few advil to relieve the back pain i have been having.   I stay so sleepy i feel like I could sleep for a week.. which I find unusual...  but sometimes the withdrawal symptons are so strong that I feel like I am going to explode.. that is where the deep breathing comes in handy...   well just thought I would let you know I am still hangin in there... you know the mileage chart that shows how many days I have been smoke free and how much money I have saved is wrong.. and I don't know how to fix it.  but thanks to all who have given me kinds words of support..

Best Regards...

Hey Linda C!!!

Welcome to the SSC and congrats on your decision to whoop up on the nico-demon and regain your freedom!!!  Read through the program and get your coping mechanisms in place to do battle!!!  Use the Program and the information in the Forums to prepare yourself for better health and longer life!  As long as your desire and commitment to quit is stronger than your desire to smoke, you will have the demon on the run!

There are a LOT of new quit buddies on your side  here and you stated you have a support system at home, right!  What else do you need to get you where you want to be?  We'll be here for support and if you need help, just post !!!

          You  CAN do this!!

You can do this, Lindac! I quit at age 55 and now 5+ years later, I'm going strong. You can do it, too. Take it an hour at a time right now and if you need to, reward yourself with a chocolate chip every hour or something like that. Rewards really work!

Hello lindac,

Welcome to our online support community, you have come to the right place to receive knowledge, support and encouragement.

We strongly encourage you to prepare for your quit using the program. Quitting smoking is not only a habit, it's an addiction. This program is going to help you plan how to deal with cravings and more importantly teach you how to replace this old habit with a new one.

You'll also need to put into place a reward system. It should have three components: small one for after each craving, medium for the end of each smoke-free day and a bigger one for the end of each smoke-free week.

Start reading through the forums, you'll quickly realize that many have felt just as you do now and they are now non-smokers. You'll also be able to find a lot of tips and tricks to help you along the way.

Strive forward and post often!

I am new to this site.  I had my last cigarette at 11:05 this morning.   I am hoping to be able to quit without any help from drugs or meds.  I have a strong support system at home.. but I am a caregiver for my mother in law who has Alzheimer's and I hope I can quit smoking.. I have been thinking of quitting for a long time now.  I don't feel well, I am 55 years old and I am just tired of smoking.  Not to mention the fact that my cigarettes are over 5.00 per pack now..  I know I can do this and I am hoping to draw support from others that are quitting also.   I quit in 1997 for 5 years and started back.. I have tried to quit several times since then but never.. maybe this time I will make it..
