I can hear that trumpet from here Karren, tootly toot toot, for today we are singing the praises of YOU and your fabulous TWO!  I'm totally with you on the long haul flying thing, it's such a joy to get off a plane and not freak out when you get to the customs queue!

As for the reward, has to be a good un, for sure.  I'd make a day of it, start with a great breakfast in a restaurant that smells of coffee and wonderful pastries - savour that smell.  Then get out in the sunshine (if we ever get any!!) and breathe deeply of that 'springtime air' or the 'after it rains' freshness.  Walk slowly, enjoy the new calmness you have in your life.  Wind up at a spa, and get a nice foot massage and pedicure to soothe your tootsies.  Then finish in the shops with a new outfit and pair of sandals to show off the pretty polish.  Bliss!

Or...

You could just put your feet up and relax on the sofa, get all your loved ones to pamper you and reward your hard earned success!!  Be proud, you've earned it!

Hi Karren,

I agree with the others, blow that trumpet loud and proud! Your father is definitely smiling down at you with a large grin! You have been an inspiring and motivating member and we appreciate your presence here. Continue to share your knowledge and experience with everyone Thank you for reminding us of the wonderful story behind your quit and the quit date you chose. It is great to hear that you are really enjoying life as a non-smoker, continue to relish in all the benefits that this smoke-free life has to offer you. Looking back on your two years smoke-free what would be your main tips for new quitters? How did you get through the intense cravings?

Check in and let us know how you are rewarding yourself for being quit for 2 years!

I hate to blow my own trumpet- buy today is my two year smoke free anniversary and I have to celebrate it somehow! I chose the date, May 10th, because it is/was my late father's birthday, and one of the few bug bears he had in life was the fact that I smoked. I thought it very fitting to choose his birthday as my quit day.

Here I am two years on! The quit was my first attempt (shame on me for not trying to quit before) as many of you 'older' members of the SSC know I was a heavy smoker, 30 cigarettes a day for almost 37 years.
My biggest regret?? not doing it sooner as I was very very lucky to have a hassle free quit, thank goodness for patches and the SSC.
Life as a non smoker is just amazing, I am no longer enslaved to a habit. I can stay in any hotel I choose in the world without worrying that I would need to go outside every 15 mins or so for a fix. I love the extra money I have, the fact that my home stays clean and fresh and also that I no longer stink of stale, smelly smoke. I also fly long haul a couple of times a year and no longer leave the plane with the temperment of the Incredible Hulk!!

Anyone who is browsing today, I know its an old adage but.....if I can do it, anyone can! There is not one person in my family or circle of friends that ever thought I would do it- but I did.

Special thanks of course to the wonderful SSC and all the members who I really do consider as friends. It's funny how I have never met any of you, however, I feel I 'know' you and that is just an incredible feeling. Here's to the next years, and maybe some of the girls can help me decide on my reward.....I mean two years...its gotta be a good un!!
