Brave post MM, thanks.

Yeah, 'less than a year' is unacceptable. With your "eyes on the prize" and your unstinting determination, I hope you turn it into many years. I've heard those stories; be one!

Wishing you well

Miss Marple  I wish I had the powers to change your situation.  This is an eye opener for all young smokers to quit now today and never smoke again.  I think they should band cigarettes and stop selling them.....My prayers are with you

I have had three rounds of chemo followed by testing.  The chemo has shrunk the lung tumor by half and the lymph nodes by half.  I will have 2 or 3 more sessions of main-lining the poison of their choice, and then the Drs say I will be in a kind-of remission for anywhere from 2 to 8 months (5 mos avg).  Then the cancer will return and we move on to a second line of treatment with a less than 40% success rate.
For those of you who do not know me, I have small cell lung cancer-extensive (which means it has spread).  Cancer has never run in my family and this is primarily a smokers disease.  I just turned 50, I have five children (28, 24, 23, 20 and 14), two grandchildren (2, 3), and a wonderful husband.  I have struggled with quitting (off and on) since 2006 here at SSC.  Until a few months ago, I led a very active lifestyle as a police detective for a medium/large sized department.  I can no longer work.  All due to 30 years of smoking.
Trying to stay as busy as possible and do as much as I can.  The 'less than a year' they have predicted isn't acceptable for me, so I ask for your prayers.  I sincerely hope 'browsers' at this site or new quitters read this and it gives them that extra incentive to quit.
Love to all
