I don't know if this will help you, Penguin, but one thing that became clear to me early on was that I was going to deal with craving as I encountered everything that I'd ever associated with smoking... until I'd replaced all the old associations with new associations.
I'd dealt with most of those associations with-in the first 6 or 7 months... at least to the point where I knew they had no real power over me anymore. But, for example, I was blind-sided by some strong cravings over this last Christmas... and the association was smoking and Christmas Shopping.
I ended up sitting in my vehicle after fighting through the crowds one afternoon... and out of nowhere...craving. Really strong craving! (I think I wanted to 'unwind' from the emotional turmoil of shopping)
It didn't last long, but I actually had to have a talk with myself about it. And I thought I was past that.
So, we just have to accept the process of quitting on its terms, take it as it comes and respond according to what we know... not what we feel. The positive feelings will come, but in some areas it may take a little longer.
Anyway, you've done great to bring this here. You're living in the solution. :)
