Nice work LadyD!  3 days under your belt is awesome...because they are the hardest days.  One day at a time.  In fact, one crave at a time.  Read, write, walk, drink water, watch tv, scream, dance...etc...etc...do whatever it takes, just DON'T smoke.  Each day does get a little easier.

Keep up the good work,
Jan

Well done LadyD! Any ex smoker knows that three days down is brilliant- as Brenda says, you're doing it! and those days soon mount up. Take it just one day at a time, you'll find its far easier than looking too far ahead, and keep that great positivity you have going too, you're doing a fine job-keep it up.

Hi LadyD,

Congratulations on making it 72 hours, celebrating the small successes can be really critical in the beginning. Here is just a reminder of some initial benefits of quitting:

20 minutes after quitting, your blood pressure drops to normal.
1 day after quitting, your chance of heart attack and stroke starts to decrease.
2 days after quitting, nicotine by-products are removed from your body.
2 weeks after quitting, walking and aerobic exercise becomes easier.
1 month after quitting, your lung capacity increases up to 30%.
1 year after quitting, your risk of developing coronary heart disease reduces by 50%.

Keep working hard and post often, we are here for you!

Good for you Lady. You have as your slogan " No matter what Don't pick up ". Of course it's hard but the end result is so worth it. Tell yourself , under no circumstance will I smoke today , or any other day for that matter. Yay for you. Three days is amazing ! breather

I am so grateful I have made it so far! I truly do not want to be a prisoner to smoking again. I treated my self to dairy queen tonight because I felt i truly deserved it.I know I stll have four more days before this week is up but, I made it 72 hours. I am doing this one day at a time and thats the truth of the matter. I realize though I need to stick with the winners Thanks everybody for all your help, suggestions and just being here for me. LadyD
