If you can believe it we have completed Dewey's 6 weeks of radiation
and Tuesday will be his last chemo medicines. He is now sporting a hip
hair style :-D
Thanks to Janet and Jeff he sported a new ball cap with pony tail to
his final radiation treatment. We don't understand, but the staff
couldn't stop laughing. Thanks Herbers. Also, we got to bring home
his mask today signed by the staff. Now we have a very expensive piece
of art ;-)
We saw the doctors this week. The surgeon is pleased with Dewey's
recovery and his over all attitude. We see him in another four weeks
for a MIR. The ongolgy doctor who oversees his radiation is pleased at
how well Dewey did though the process. Dewey is tired this week and
that was expected. We are told that the radiation will continue to
work for the next four to six weeks. Whenever he goes outside he is to
wear sunscreen. His oncologist said that Dewey will be off chemo for
four weeks then back on for four months. He will take it five days on
and two days off at double the dosage he was taking. His blood count
remains in the normal range, but they will be checking that every four
weeks.
We went to a support group Tuesday, which was very good for us. We
were with people who have survived this awful cancer. One is five
years, another three and another two. Then there was a lady who was
diagnosed last October with the same level as Dewey. Give us hope.
The most important part of this process is all of you and your prayers.
No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but today we know we have life
and it is filled with love of family and friends. May God bless all of
you with good health, serenity and prosperity.
Love you all,
Dewey and Sharon
