but then I realized that I can have two anniversaries. I took the plunge tonight and went to a live quit smoking meeting. I got a 9 month chip, but not for quitting smoking May 1st, but for quitting nicotine June 12th. I have to admit that quitting smoking to me is the crown jewel of my recovery, although I needed to eventually give up the nicotine too, because it was what was making me hooked. Plus, nicotine does have other health effects. However, the part of it all that was killing me was the actual smoking. And of course, I at first felt that we should be given a choice about which date to celebrate. On my way home, I decided that this internal debate is why I needed to go to a meeting. After all, I was about to take on one more resentment.
