Lance,
I bet there are so many folks here that kept on quitting and starting, over and over again! But, at one point, they quit. For goos. And stayed quit. I cannot seem to find one that says it was easy. But it is do-able! For me is chewing gum and stir-sticks, together with the patch. I am not over the habit part of smoking, but I am getting there. One minute at a time. And it feels good. You can do it too!

Never quit on quitting!!
Go trough my program and grab anything that can make your quit easier. Like this board, different routines, a reward system.
I also rehearsaed coping strategies. Like what to do when a craving sneaks in. Like 5 consecutive deep breaths or visualizing a calm beautiful beach, etc.
Welcome back

Lance arm yourself via educating yourself about this addiction. You have to see the addiction for what really is. Chewing gum is a wonderful idea. I'll tell you the inside of my mouth is all bitten up, but I still chew, because I've experienced the alternatives.

I BLEW IT! Last night I woke up several times and smoked, was obsessing about today. Went most of the day and gave up. In the quit literature I received it talked about practice quits and I gave in to that. I was hungry etc. and gave in. So, I bought gum, will try a better routine and give it another shot. I have so many reasons to quit and now is a difficult time to take something like this under, but I need to. So I will try again.

Congrats on Day 1

Remember to continue to work through the program and post often.  What coping mechanisms will you be using?

How will you be rewarding yourself for getting through today?

Read, read, read... Think again what made you want to quit in the first place. And remember: breathing exercises are your best friend right now. You can do this! I'll just tell you what I've been told: first week is called Hell Week for a reason! But it will get better!

Ok I'm off. I have so many reasons to quit and I'm already having doubts. I need to do this.
