Hey Merkat!!!

Welcome and congrats on quitting!!!  Quitting isn't easy and you will need to be prepared for those craves when they hit you!  That's where the site's program comes in, as well as the support you can receive from all of us on the forums!

Read and learn and post when you have questions or need any advice!!  Most importantly, post for help before you even think about lighting up again!!!  If you wait for 5 replies, your craving will be gone and you will have strength from winning another battle against the ol' nico-demon!!!  Remember, we're here for you!!!

Merkat, welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking!  Here are some suggestions to help you with this quit.  Use all of the resources here under "my program" so you have a plan in place.  Preparation is key to success, and we want you to have a plan to tackle anything the nicodemon throws your way.  Set up a reward system to celebrate each passed craving (small reward), each smoke free day (medium reward), and each smoke free week (larger reward).  Treat yourself like royalty as this quit is all about you!!!  Drink lots of iced water to flush the toxins out of your body and help with the cravings.  Read, read, and read some more as there is a wealth of knowledge and experiences here at the SSC.  Use the search feature here to look up topics affecting your quit to see what other members have done.  And post as often as you need, if only to rant and rave as somebody is always near by!  We're all rooting for your success!

Good for you.  You started the journey with the right attitude.  Every day is a new day and this journey is a daily journey.

So, congratulations on Day 1 of freedom.  Read through the Program.  Complete all the exercises.  Do anything and everything you need to arm yourself with knowledge and power.  There are thousands of posts here with great information and inspiration.  Dig into these and learn about apart of you and the human spirit that you didn't know existed.  Explore the Blogs of other freedom fighters who have experienced the same things as you.  We all have been there and we are all proud to call ourselves non-smokers/ex-smokers.

We are free!!!!!  Welcome to the club!

Dave
