I agree with everyone.  What ever works for you.  PB do not feel quilty that you are not always around to give support to those who gave it to you.  I believe that this site is strong enough and has enough supporters that it works just fine to take some time away and to do what works for you.  I am so lucky and so happy that I found this site.  Just being able to post and read about things that many people are going through.  It also is a GREAT TOOL to just vent if you have to.  If this site was based on if you get the support then you need to give back, I do not think the number of members would be as high.  What ever support you can give is always welcome.  I love just reading post and posting my thoughts.  THIS SITE IS GREAT

Great post PB. Some people need to stay and some people need the space as too much talking about smoking sometimes gives some people cravings. It happens. I am glad you're finding it easier this time PB, and I think it may be because you focused on it being an addiction. Alot of smokers never want to admit they're addicted, I know I sure didn't, especially when I was younger, I wasn't going to admit that a little cigarette controlled my life. But when I finally admitted it to myself, yes, I am a nicotine addict,  and it is as bad, if not worse than heroine or cocaine or crackor any other nasty oe out there..  I think when we admit that yes, we are addicted, we start to look at quitting from a new direction, one that gives us a better prospective and a better view of how to deal with it.  Great to see you creating a new life for yourself!

I just want to say I never had any intention of moving anyone away from these forums. The real intent of my post was sharing the step I took in my mind to move forward, to ease my cravings. I think the direction this thread has gone in is fine, but believe me I still stop in quite often for support.

Members,

It's perfectly ok to take a break from the boards periodically to gain some perspective and breathing room, especially if participating on the boards is contributing to the cravings.

We are all here to support and encourage each other in any way possible.

While we don't want to lose members, nor discourage participation and valuable contributions, it is important to recognize what works for you at different stages of your quits.

Keep up the fantastic work folks!

I understand completely too- its just a matter of what works for each of us. I find that coming here almost daily reaffirms my quit- when I read other members, especially in the early days of their quits, struggles- it reminds me of those first few bizarre days that I know I personally could not ever face again. But I can also understand the need to move on-just as long as they drop by now and then to visit with us!

PB........

I'm glad you started this thread.  I've thought a lot about this over the last year.

Jazz, you took the words right out of my mouth.  I found also that I had to stay away for a while to protect myself.  I pretty much lived here for quite a while in the beginning.  I think as time goes by I need to do a change-up now and then so I can keep moving forward.  I sure am thankful to all the folks here who helped me when things got scary.  I hope that we can be of some help to those on this path.  I remember very vividly the roller coaster.
