Welcome Kennedy! You see, there's already great advice flowing from some great quitters!
Changing up your routine helps alot too. Do have a stock pile of gum, candy, starws etc on hand for when cravings surprise you or if you get stressed. Having a plan ahead of time helps alot. Remember that no matter what happens, smoking will not make it better or make you feel better. This is a great place to quit! Congratulations!

Welcome to the Family Kennedy.

I can't add much, you've been given Tons of good advice.  If you let us help, you'll get through this.  Just say N.O.P.E. and get mad, really mad at your addict.  It will try many ways to lure you back to smoking.  It happens to EVERYONE of us and we all had/have to fight it off.
NEVER feel alone, cause you never are.  Post and wait for 5 replies when the addict gets bad and you need us.  Post and rant and rave about how you feel.  I did it and so did a LOT of others.  I even beat up on a pillow some.......  My point is DO WHAT IT TAKES to stay Quit.  Spend time reading and you'll find many creative ways from Quitters here.

We been there, we understand how you feel, we'll help you get through.  It's already happened to us.  Use us,....
You CAN do this.

Keep the Quit
hugggggggs and coooookies
Bob

Kennedy, welcome to the SSC!  There is so much wonderful information here!  Here's what I recommend.  Preparation is key to success!  Make sure "my program" is all filled out so you have a quit plan in place!  Put together a reward system to celebrate each passed craving (small reward), each smoke free day (medium reward), and each smoke free week (larger reward).  Read, read, and read some more all the different postings here.  Use the search feature here to look for topics important to you quit.  Post as often as you need, if only to vent if life gets stressful.  Drink lots of iced water as it helps flush the toxins out of your body and it helps with the cravings.  N(ot) O(ne) P(uff) E(ver) is the mantra here, and we're all rooting for your success!

Welcome to SSC Kennedy!
This is agreat site with wonderful quitters and health counselors. I suggest you to go trough my program, so you can get a better understanding of your addiction. Read and post as needed also.
I strongly suggest you to read the Allen Carr Book because it gives you a positive approahc to the smoking cessation process. Remember, you are not leaving your best friend behind, you are breaking apart from your worst enemy!
This quit is for yourself, so you are the one in control . Be selfish about your quit and protect
it at all cost. This is a challenging but rewarding process. You already are reaping the benefits of staying quit. Your hair and clothe smell great, your breath too. Your blood pressure is lowering, and you can breath better.
I'm rooting for your success!

Welcome Kennedy - as you can see I am not to far along in my quit but it is going really well and it will for you too.  Don't be scared you are to weak if you were you wouldn't be where you are right now.  You just have to remember to say N.O.P.E. when you have a craving and remember why you are quitting and the craving will pass very quickly.  I actually speak out loud sometimes and I have a drink of cold water and before I know it it has passed.

Good Luck with you quit

Later
Terry

Welcome Kennedy!

Congratulations on four days!  You are more then halfway through Hell Week.  What will your reward be for getting through Hell Week (the worst week of your quit)? Rewards are very important part of your quit be sure to put a reward system in place as soon as possible.

Have you started working your way through the program?  It will help you further prepare for your quit and preparation is key to a successful quit.  Also, read through the forums they are full of information and inspiration.  Most importantly, post often.  You will make a lots of friends here and they will be instrumental in your quit.

Let us know how you are doing!
