Congratulations to our 8 day quitters! Tabby, what great advice you provided on how to deal with stress and cravings! My favorites are drinking lots of iced water to help with the cravings and to flush the toxins out of your body! Chewing on carrots, celery sticks, altoids, pickles, straw, anything like that helps keep your hands busy. Change your scenery if needed. We were used to smoking in a specific spot either at work or at home. Change your location. If you used to smoke on the front porch, sit in the back yard. If you smoked in the den while watching tv, move the tv to another room. Its those little things that hopefully won't cause a trigger to occur. I used to smoke while drinking regular black coffee. When I quit, I switched to flavored coffee so it was a little bit different. I still wanted my coffee, but it wasn't the same, so that helped eliminate a trigger. You may do a search on "triggers" or "cravings" to see what other creative ideas members have used to deal with the cravings. Just keep taking it one day at a time, one hour at a time if needed, and both of you will go far!
