HI,
Sparky is like all of us on this journey.  Holidiay weekends can become a little problematic for some of us. When you go see your Grandmothers grave and hang out with family members that you see are getting older it triggers a lot of smoking thoughts.  What I learned from this weekend is the thoughts come but they also go when you don't act on them and smoke.  And even though they can be uncomfortable I'm here standing tall and have not caved into the nicodemon.  I'm also happy you Sparky have done the same.  We are all in the same boat and we are learning to cope with our emotions in other ways than thinking that one smoke will solve the problem. It's not easy to do but it's achievable as I see so many on this site doing so very well. Happy Memorial Day to all!. Ron

I experienced the same this past weekend. I was out of town for a long weekend with my girlfriends . Three of the 7 smoke, We were at thebeach house of one of them. By the pool,with the drink, the music,the sun, rememberung that I used to smoke in that situation and that a puff wouldn't derail my quit. But I held on. I kept my quit smoking straws!

 Hi Sparky, there is not a thing wrong with thoughts. They come and they go. You cannot bury them, but if you try to, they will pop out somewhere else. Thoughts are not bad and you are not bad for having them. When you have a thought that makes you uncomfortable, hold it in your hand and look at it. Name it.  Close your fingers around it. Then open your fingers and let it go. Writing your thoughts here is the same thing -- acknowledging, naming, letting go.  Yesterday was an emotional day and it's natural that your thoughts might be a little off.  But you did good -- you talked about them and you moved on.  Others will come, but you have the strength to deal with them.

Thanks for all the input and understanding.  In all the quits before this is the 2nd longest time.  This is my first time doing everything cold turkey for this length of time.  That being said, I do know what is in store, triggers and such.  This is the kinds of thinking that gets me all the time "I KNOW" crap.  It keeps me from being honest and it leads me to another failed quit.  Not this time.  I don't care how silly things may sound I am going to keep posting, because this will be my last quit; there is not another option.  If I smoke I am gone and I have to much to lose.  I want to be that positive example and not another sigh and not another welcome back.  I want to stay and fight this monster and WE will.

Like I've told others.......it was around 65-75 days for me when the voices and super-craves let up some.  Not near as bad as they were now.  I still believe we have to go a full year and face every trigger during all the seasons and all the family get-togethers and all the holidays....."etc"......BUT......it's a LOT easier saying N.O.P.E. than it was.
