Ummmmm......thanks I guess!  I'm kinda embarrassed over this stat though.  But if I smoked 2 packs a day, thats 40 ciggies a day, and with 226 days smoke free, I guess 226 * 40 = 9040 cigarettes not smoked.  Actually, I am now happy for this stat.  It shows that a heavy smoker can turn their life around and become a non-smoker!  I know I'm not the only one who smoked 2 packs a day.  So for all of you heavy smokers lurking around who are thinking that giving up smokes is too hard, please give quitting a try.  It can be done!  I, along with so many of my friends here at SSC, are proof that it can be done!
I hate to admit to this, but I was one of those smokers who would toss their butts out their car window while driving.  Now I didn't smoke all 40 daily ciggies in my car, but I smoked enough and threw my fair share out the window, or on the side walk while walking, or in the sand along a beach, you get the picture.  I know its littering, but it never stopped me.  I guess in addition to all of the other benefits, I'm alot "greener" now too as I have reduced my carbon footprint AND I no longer litter on streets, sidewalks, or other public places.

I get to see one of my "rewards in action" this weekend.  As some of you may recall, I am donating my savings from not smoking to my university this year to help fund a new scholarship.  I fly home from San Jose tomorrow (friday) morning, then Saturday I'm driving back to western Pennsylvania to attend the annual scholarship dinner at my university.  The Alumni Association is giving out around $40k in scholarships to about 30 very deserving students during the dinner, and in this economy, every dollar helps!  Its such a wonderful feeling knowing that you are helping somebody who otherwise may need to drop out of college because they cannot afford the tuition.

As for a reward, there is a Ralph Lauren Outlet store on the drive to PA.  I'm thinking a new polo shirt or two in lieu of a belgium chocolate fountain.  But with Easter about 10 days away, I know there will be a basket filled with chocolate waiting for me on Easter morning!
