I remember when I was taking French, our teacher told us that when we were beginning to integrate the language, we would start dreaming in French.  Sadly, I can say that I never took enough to see that happen.  But....

I didn't have a smoking dream last night, I had a quitting dream.....

People were offering me cigarettes and I refused every single one.  It felt great in the dream to tell people I had quit.

There was one man in particular that was really sick from smoking.  His face was ashen, he was very thin, his breath rattled in his chest, and he had one of the worst smoker's coughs I had ever heard.  And he was holding the hand of a little boy about the age of my youngest son.  I learned from someone else that the boy's mother had died and the father was raising him alone.  Although the father was my age, he looked like he was in his 70's from all of the illnesses he was suffering from as a result of smoking.

There was more to the dream, but I just wanted to write about that part in particular.  That man (I believe) was an image of what I was becoming-- the track that I was on.  When I saw him with his little boy, I felt so much love and compassion for him, and at the same time, I knew that he was not going to quit, and that that boy would probably be orphaned.

And in my dream mind, as well as my waking mind, my quit was strengthened tenfold.  That part was super cool.

Happy Saturday morning everyone.  It's 7:30am on the West coast and all is well.
Deb
