Welcome to the SSC!  You've been given some great advice!  Go throw "my program" so you are 110% prepared for everything the nicodemon throws your way!  Set up a reward system to celebrate each passed cravings, each smoke free day, and each smoke free week.  As you can see from reading all the posts here, we love to celebrate each other's successes, and rewarding yourself is a good thing!  As Lainey said, the nicotine is out of your system after three days.  Continue to drink lots of iced water to flush the toxins out of your body.  If the stress and triggers are too much, change your scenery!  I avoided situations early in my quit where I knew there would be smokers around.  As I went cold turkey, I made sure I avoided as many triggers as I could!  Read, read, and read some more!  Post as often as you need.  We're all here rooting for your success!  P.S.  Avoid friends who offer you smokes!
My Milage:

My Quit Date: 8/20/2008
Smoke-Free Days: 204
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,160
Amount Saved: $1,632.00
Life Gained:

Hi Extremest! Welcome to the SSC! Spend some time reading here and you'll see why we are all so successful!
Three days means the worst of the drugs are out of your system! Stick with us, there is a ton of information here that will help alot. Get yourself a stash of candy, gum, straws, cold water, licorice, chocolate, whatever pleases you for tough times. Avoid smokers and booze for a little while till you get tougher! Rearrange the area where you smoke and your morning routine, it really helps! You are an addict and there's only one way to get past that! Not One Puff Ever! NOPE!
If you did it six months, you can do forever! We're here to help ya! Yippee! you're a non smoker!

Hey Xtremest!

Welcome to the gang!  Heck, if you can make it 6 months, you can go all the way!  It's just a matter of you wanting to be a non-smoker more than you want to smoke!!!  Simple enough, huh?

I know, not really, but that's the mindset you need to get past these first few weeks!!!  Take it one day at a time and if you get a craving that won't go away, do like Bob says and post...  wait for 5 replies and your crave will be gone!  My big distraction from smoking was reading posts and responding!  There's so much good information here that you'll never get bored!!!  The search function is great for finding specific information you are looking for, too!!   Knowledge is power, and it really helps to arm yourself against the nico-demon!!!  That really makes the quit a bit more tolerable!!

Good luck and yell when you need us!!

Welcome to the club xtremest......and welcome to quitting..........

Read through "my program" and you'll find lots of good info.  Go under tools and resources and set up your Quit-meter and have it show in your posts.  It helps a lot to see how you are doing.
Post here all you need.........yell, rant, scream,........it's all been done........and you'll get lots of support.  During the craves.....post and wait for 5 responses......it'll be gone then.  READ and read more......Lots of good advice and help here..........first 2 weeks are bad.....Hell and Heck week respectively...........First 3-4 days you flush the nicotine out of your system......use lots of fluids to do that.....Ice water is sworn by here a LOT.
Ask anything you need........we'll answer.
You can do this!!!
KEEP THE QUIT..........and N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever) is a great credo.

Use us

Hello Everyone,

I am not new to smoking, but I am new to not smoking.

I recently quit smoking three days ago after I came down sick with a really bad sinus infection, which left me not wanting a smoke for at least 12 hours. Therefore, I said why not just QUIT. So here I am....  :")

I am doing really well thus far and have a lot of courage as I have quit in the past Cold Turkey for 6 months. Although, a friend offered me a cig. and stupid me, took it and never looked back..

NOT THIS TIME WILLIS!!! I AM TOUGHER AND WISER THEN BEFORE..

I am here hoping to help others as they hopefully can help me...

thanks and cya round....
