Debby,
What you are experiencing is very normal and what all of us went through not too long ago.  I remember a chair I used to sit on outside to smoke and about your time period I would have these flashes of grabbing a ciggy and heading for that chair and then I was be in shock that I thought that because I had quit smoking.  This stuff is all temporary including the sleep issues and just feeling tired in general.  I had many headaches also but I tell you something that you can look forward to and maybe others can chime in on.  I used to go through a bottle of Aleve probably every 3 months because of headaches when I was smoking.  I never thought I had a problem because I would just down 2 tablets every time it happened and I never thought much about it.  But I just ran into a bottle of Aleve I had left over the other day and guess what?  I realized I have not taken one in almost 6 months.  After about a month of quitting I just never got them again.  Believe me smoking causes most of these problems in our lives not the other way around. Keep on keeping on and you will see what I mean.
Ron

Hi Deb!
My first four days were really a nightmere: headaches, lack of concentration, and zero energy! So it's normal, your body is healing; we have to pay the price for our addiction. The good news is that this is just temporary discomfort.
Imagine you caught the flu, and then after 5 days you will be nicotine free, and you will feel better.
This is not caused because we quit, this is your body screaming: I want to get rid of this poison!
So drink lots of ice water and non sugar added fruit juices; this will help to flush the nicotine from your system!
Hang on; the first four days are the worst, because we experience mental and physical discomfort!
Once you are nicotine free, the mental part of the addiction is still there.
Defeating the mental part of our addiction is a long process that requieres a lot of patience. We trained ourelves to smoke on every situation, so now, we have to deprogram our brain and return it to its original state. We were born as nonsmokers!
So Deb, cry, yell, run, sleep, eat, but DON'T SMOKE!!!!!
Hugs
Marivi

Hey Debby - congratulations on 3 days.  You're doing great!  I'm glad to hear that you didn't have too hard of a day today.  Hopefully having a hot bath and a good night's sleep will get rid of that headache for you.  Keep strong!

Hi all, well I've nearly finished day 3
Didn't have to hard a time today, but a part of me I kept thinking 'Oh! I haven't had a ciggy maybe I should have one now'.

But then the other part of me said 'Good work keep it up!!! You still haven't had a ciggy, thats the way it should be'.

I didn't sleep well last night, and I think that as a result of that I have had a really bad headache all day. I remember the last time I quit that my sleep pattern went all wrong, but I don't remember having the headaches.

Going to get a early night, have a nice relaxing hot bath, a milky drink just relax and have a read before I go to sleep, it used to work when I was younger so hopefully it still will now.

Hope that everyones day hasn't been too bad, and that you are all still going strong.
