Reasons I am....

15 years ago 0 3875 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Excellent reasons guys!
I don't have to go outside to smoke in the -30 to -47 degree weather we had for the most part of this winter. (Canada)
I don't get very many colds any more, and if I do they only last a day or two, not weeks like they used to.
Tons of money saved, from not smoking cigarettes that are now over $13.00 a pack.

I'm happy I'm not smoking because:
-I can give my daughter a big hug without her saying: Mother, please don't smoke!!
-I can smell my own perfume
-I can spend a whole day at the shopping mall without having to go out for a smoke.
-I can enjoy a great dinner and the afterdinner conversation without the need of a nicotine fix
I can spend three hours at the movies
-I can enjoy a road trip in my car without  stopping for a cigarrette (or two)
-I don't have the words lung cancer in the back of my mind.
-I can have my yearly physical chec up with my doctor without having to listen a 30 minute lecture about the risks of smoking.
-I feel free to do whatever I want without having to spend time feeding my addiction.

I have many more, but these are the ones that come to my mind right now.

Well, other than the main reason (health), I am happy to be smoke free is money!  I have so much more of it now!  My husband (who reached his 30 day mark today!) and I calculated we were spending around $350 a month on those nasty cancer sticks.  We're buying him a kayak for his 30 day anniversary (and his birthday which is this month also).  He's SO thrilled and so am I.
I am happy to be smoke free because I don't smell like an ashtray anymore.
I am happy to be smoke free because I don't have to go out in the freezing weather for a smoke!  Who in their right mind would do that?  NO ONE (those to do are just not in their right mind!).

Happy to be smoke free as well. Breathing is the big one obviously but there are lots of other reasons. My fingers used to be heavily stained. The stains were gone early in the quit. Don't have to feel embarassed anymore about that. There are plenty more but one more and I'll save some for somebody else. I don't have to check the house before I leave to make sure I haven't left anything burning because I'm not burning anything. No burning butts. breather 85 Addict 0

Kelly that is an awesome one!  Just last Friday our entire department had an all day seminar.  I really don't think about smoking anymore so it wasn't a problem.  But, there was a point in the day at this seminar that I saw a couple people come in after one of our breaks.  Now, it was very very cold and very very windy that day.  They came back in with their hair a mess and shivering... and late (and stinky too).  The thought that came into mind at that moment was, "I sure am glad my life isn't planned around when and where I can smoke".  Yes freedom is awesome!!!

Freedom.

I don't smoke, so I don't have to prearrange my whole day around having to find time to smoke.  Or freaking out because I am in a meeting for more than an hour...not going on field trips with the kids...etc. etc.

Freedom is good.

HAPPY to be smoke free....

Okay everyone...  I know that during our quit sometimes we may get in a rut and feel down and depressed.  We get hit with those craves and it drags us down and we wonder if we will ever get past it...  WELL... I thought maybe we could all list some postives.  On bad days sometimes it is hard to see the positves and it may be helpful if there is a thread devoted to just that.  SO, on those bad days we can open it up and remember why we are doing this...  Now, there may be a similar thread out there and if there is I am sorry...

I will start this thing off.

One of the reasons I am happy to be smoke free is becaues I can BREATH!  Yes, I can take the stairs at work and NOT be out of breath.  I can walk from the very back parking lot to the building and not be out of breath!  WOOOHOOO!!!  Isn't that awesome?!???!
