HELP!!!

15 years ago 0 2778 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hey Danni!!!

Welcome back!!!!  When I first started my quit I found that distraction was key for me to become a successful quitter!  Guess what????    This was the place that provided me with the distraction I needed to get through some mighty craves!  I was basically here every spare moment I had at work....  reading and posting and reading some more was the thing that I needed to get me through my first few weeks!  Well, it worked for me and it has also worked for many of us here!

Soooo, stay close and post and read and we'll be here to help you get 'er done!!!  Be absolutely sure that you post and wait for 5 replies before you even think about lighting up another smoke!!!   If you promise yourself to do this one thing, it may be the one thing that makes your quit successful!!!  I have seen so many people come here with the best intentions, but if they would all just do this one little thing, they may still be here with us and smoke free!

     Once again, welcome back, Danni!!!

            Jim

Fagashlil,

Welcome back and congratulations on making the decision to quit again! This is one you won't regret! Congratulations on your good news too!

Remember back to last time you quit and all of the coping skills that you used to help you with the cravings. It will be important to take what you learned previously and apply it to this quit. We suggest you redo the program and work your way through all of the milestones again. There's a ton of great information to help you through your withdrawals and cravings.

Stay strong, post lots and keep us updated!

Hey I remember you   Glad you are back.  As you can see I have restarted again.  I am doing this cold turkey also.  The book it a good resource, but remember this does pass.  Your body is healing and getting ready for the work ahead taking care of baby.  When I quit this time I reminded myself that it would be hard for the first few days and then things will level out and then I could deal with the living issues.  Hug yourself and remind yourself you are healing.  Drink lots of water, rest, read and pace.  You will do this.  Here is my hand hold on we will get through this.

Keep the Quit

Again thank you everyone - your words are so comforting right now.

Jay I actually own Allen Carrs book and have been reading it all morning, trying to remember the mindset it got me in last time. Everytime I don't smoke I have made a choice, a good choice for me and for peanut (it already has a nickname - "it" seems so impersonal :)

I was sick this morning and have been feeling nauseus all day which is actually helping. Yay morning sickness :)

Again you are all awesome and this forum was the first thing I thought about this morning. Yor are angels.

You are very very welcome....it will be a struggle but a life-changing one.....hormones will be especially crazy right now and this can work in your favor...the tears, the ups and downs...all of it can be blamed on two incredible situations...your new "quit" and your pregnancy....patience is important - and it's okay to cry.  i mean it.   it releases all sorts of stress and emotion..its cleansing..and then it's over...as long as you don't reach for a cigarette - *i hope you don't have morning sickness only because it's soooo not fun.....but i have to say if you do get it....thinking of cigarettes will be a thing of the past...all you will be craving will be dry toast and ginger-ale.   i will be checking this often...so vent away.

Thank you thank you sassy and astrofan. You have no idea how much I need your words right now. I've just been sitting here reading others posts remembering my last quit, remembering that I did it before and I was fine - no better than I ever I was when I was smoking. Your words made me cry again but in a good way. Everything is setting me off right now - ain't hormones grand!

Thanks again.

Welcome...I can relate to the anxiety..thus my name.  It takes time, but you do learn to deal with it in a different way.  I needed to take meds for quit some time wich I don't think are an option for you.  There are quit a few herbal supplements available that work some, you may want to ask your doctor your options.   We are here for you whenever you need it.

Take Care,

Kelly
