Hello Jay and welcome to SSC- I was also a chronic smoker Jay and I leant on this site an awful lot in those first few weeks, I felt as if staring at this screen and reading posts was the distraction I needed and boy did it work for me. I also used patches as my NRT too.
You sound very prepared and very determined, and I loved your idea of trying to educate the second graders too, I wish you good luck and I look forward to your success.

Hi Jay.........as well as twohazy, bryan. valic

So glad you found the good folks here to help you thru this journey.  It sounds like you are on the right road with taking all the preparation seriously.  I too was at the top of the list in the addiction level.  I truly don't know how I made it through some days but if you don't pick one up a new day will come and you will have one more day under your belt.  It seems for some folks here they can put down the smokes without too much trouble, and for others it is the most difficult ride of your life.  I wish for you the first category, but if you find yourself in the second, please do not feel alone.  A lot of us have been there.  Sometimes just knowing that others have experienced what you have can make the difference in being able to ride out the storm.

Good for you for teaming up with a quit buddy, buddies (form a group?)  Can be a real lifesaver to know you are helping and being helped by someone in your shoes.  ( Thanks again to the No-Embers)

Wishing you all the best.............If the going gets too weird........POST and wait

Moss

Thanks Deb,  I have tried before and failed but when I found this site and went through and did everything in the glove box.  I realized preparation is key.  And alot of information in the forum here.  I have used alot of it.  Last night was tough I went to bed early.  Woke up during the night ant automatically reached for nothing lol.  Took a drink of water went back to sleep.  Same thing this morning reached for nothing took a drink now getting ready to go in for breakfast.  Deep breaths, cold water, and my new crutch candy lol.  Walking has helped when it gets bad.
