A New Year Has Begun

Thanks all!  It's nice to be back.  I always miss everyone here when I'm not hear.

We can do our best and see what happens.  All I know is I always wanted to punch the self rightious ex smokers that used to make their comments every time our kind would go outside for a smoke.  I vowed never to become one of those if I quit and realized that I felt like smoking more because of them.  Maybe that's the problem.  Smokers everywhere are going "I'm never quitting smoking because while they are going through withdrawl all they do is complain and then once they have it beat they turn into an a$$hole." "I don't want everyone to hate me so I just won't quit." lol.

All of your words have always been so encouraging since I've come here and even any words of tough love that I've seen have been just that and not "Just don't smoke, I mean c'mon what's wrong with you."  I feel that the unique encouragement and advice that everyone brings to the table here is more important than anything I've seen face to face and I'm very thankful for all of you.  Keep doing what your doing, here, and face to face.

Mr Q

P.S - Rock, you're looking different this year.  I can't put my finger on it but there's something different.
P.P.S - Breather, it's not fun is it?  My car died for good during my quit too.  I also got a van to replace the car that broke down shortly after.  The van is running again but both scenarios really put me to the test.  I don't have a cell phone so I had to do some walking.  On a positive note I met some new people and got some exersise.  Always try to find something positive.  lol.  Trust me, I didn't feel that way at the time.

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Great post Mr. Q.  I can completely relate to the "challenges" that make us smoke and pull us back in.  It took me a while to realize that smoking didn't make me feel better or more prepared to handle the crazies in life, it just gave me an excuse to say "screw it" and pretend to cope.

Smoking is so destructive in many ways other than just your physical health.

Well said Mr. Q, well said!  Glad you had an enjoyable holiday!  Everybody loves Raymond is one of the best tv series ever!  I thought it was written about my family.  I can swear that Marie's character is based on my mom!   LOL!

Hello Mr. Q  Glad you had a good holiday. Happy new year. I always enjoy reading your posts. It's funny you were talking about the car breaking down and the nicodemon. I backed the car in the drive on Saturday and that's where it died. Of course everything's closing for the week end. I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything about it until today so there wasn't any reason to be upset about it. Not anything to start smoking over anyway. It's about knowing what the trigger's are and knowing when to walk away. Got a new battery today and everything is as it should be.  Sense of humour a must. breather 55 Addict 0
