Hi Olive and welcome to SSC! its good to have you here, and congratulations on eight days smoke free- thats fantastic- well done!
As for thinking about smoking, heck we all do when we first quit, as long as its just thinking that wont hurt!! it'll wear off soon honestly you start to think about smoking less and less as the quit goes on.
So, keep up your brilliant work, and drop by and let us know how you are doing or if you need any more advice with the Champix. Good Luck Olive!

Welcome Olive.  I used Chantix and it worked really well for me.  I know some here had bad side effects, but used it anyway.  I didn't have any side effects.  You are doing wonderful   As far as thinking about smoking all the time, well of course you do.  I don't know how long you smoked, but it takes awhile to untrain the brain so to speak.  Everyday that goes by is another step towards not thining about it all the time.  I still do sometimes, but they are just thoughts, and thats it.  Hang in there and keep us posted.

8 Days is a great accomplishment.  I remember the first week being the toughest.  I thought i was going to die some days but as soon as the second week is over it almost feels easy to not smoke.  Staying active is the way to go but if you don't want to do that then just keep your brain  occupied.  I used video games when i didn't feel like going to the gym :)  I know a few people who used champix to quit and they are still quit so i guess it works.  I used thrive. lol i don't know what was in those losenges but i couldn't finish one, maybe thats why they work.  Either way, good luck and stick to the plan, not smoking is easy. It's the mental fight with your brain that's the tough part.

Cheers

Hi Olive,

I used Champix for a couple weeks.  I smoked the first week and quit the next.  It helps with the withdrawl part of it but not so much with the thinking about it all the time.  I would recommend a book called "Allen Carr's - The easyway to quit smoking."  It really helps with the desire to smoke portion of the quit.  I stopped taking the Champix after reading the book and haven't looked back.  I wouldn't recommend going off the Champix but if you read the book and stay on the Champix for awhile you should be fine.  Take care.

Hi Olive!  8 days is great!  I didnt use Chantix but had two friends who did and it worked well for them.  As I remember they took it for a week or two befor they quit smoking and continued to take it for some time afterward.  They are both still quit and they quit befor I did.  I wish you the best in your quit!
