I have typed this many times here and I will type it again now, if your desire to be quit is greater than your desire to smoke, you give yourself a wonderful chance of succeeding and with a relative ease.

The converse is also true.

Hi popsmom,

First of all, congratulations for making the decision to quit. You should be happy that you're one of the lucky ones that is not having too hard of time with this.  The withdrawls can vary from quitter to quitter, but just because it's easy now, doesn't mean you should let your guard down.

In regards to adding a photo, you can do so by clicking on the "Insert Image" icon located in the top row of icons in the message box.  If you experience further difficulties, please don't hesitate to contact us through feedback.

What are you going to do to make sure that this quit sticks?

I won't say it's been easy, but it hasn't been a nightmare either. I used some meds at the start, patches for a while and now an ocassional piece of nic gum. This quit while not easy, has been very doable. That's all I ask for.

Thanks for the replies, I know the first week I had a few extremely strong cravings but worked my way thru them.....just seems this week has flown by without much thought of smoking.  I still drink my coffee in the morning, have actually been sitting in my usual smoke chair, doing all my normal stuff, just smoke free and not noticing any thoughts of it even.  Now I also realize that it could be the Champix or just nicodemon trickory, lol...so I am aware and ready should it pop back up, I can fight it again.

BJ, if you don't mind me asking or others also, what type of side effects has the Champix/Chantix had on you that are negative......again, they have been a blessing for me.....I am a constant worrier, I worry if  have nothing to worry about, anxiety has always been a big problem for me, only getting worse as I get older.  I have noticed lately though since being on them that I don't have any of these issues, I worry but only about those things I can control and need to worry about, anxiety, pfffttt if this bathroom demo didn't bring some on, not sure what will.  I feel calm, in control and am enjoying life again, laughing alot and all anxiet/worry/SMOKE free.

Thanks everyone for all the support and am glad to be here and be one of you!!!!!!!

I used Chantix also, and it did make the Quit much, much easier, especially in the beginning.

I did have some increasing side effects from the Chantix.. I took it for close to 60 days.. and I have remained  smoke free.

I had planned on taking it the full course of at least 12 weeks, but... at 60 days, i just couldn't.. and I felt my quit was pretty strong at that point.. So by making friends here, posting and replying.. I have a bit over 6 mnths now.    If I hadn't found this site I am 99.2 % sure I would not be smoke free today.

Even checking in and reading and not posting..  a few days Ithought maybe  I was being remnded of cigarettes/smoking by coming here..    I have found out.  It is easier to stay focused and remain smober.. by seeing my friends and watching my quit meter.. and having the program and tools here.

That's awesome your quit is going so well--good for you and keep it up.

This is my 3rd time at it and it has been by far the easiest for me. I think you're right about wanting it so badly that it becomes easier. I'm not giving anything up this time, I'm just taking my life back--and I'm never going back.

I've definitely had some difficult days, but never once was getting a hold of a smoke been an option.

In the past I remember walking by a smoker and thinking how lucky he was that he got to indulge--I was fighting not to smoke. This time when I see someone puffing away I think about how lucky I am that I'm no longer a slave: I don't stink, I can take a long walk without becoming winded, and my confidence is through the roof--I'm defeating a lifelong demon!

I've been having a really cool experience at work. When I come out for my break prepped for a power walk all my former smoking buddies wonder why I'm not hanging out sucking down a couple sticks. I can see the envy in their eyes and the same desperation I felt before. I just point them to SSC and hope they'll join us soon.

Way to go. Glad to say we're both smoke free

While my quit has been easy and I miss smoking everyday.
Yes, I was addicted.
Yes, I know how bad smoking is for you.
NO, I will not go back, with one exception. I'll explain that at another time.

I still push in the cigarette lighter when I start the car by habit. When I am checking my pockets getting ready to leave for work I still check to see if I have my lighter. Some of these habits I will probably never break and that's OK. I just don't want to become so weak that I give into that nasty habit again.

Just thought would throw this out there.....but has anybody had an easy time with their quit?????

I ask as this is only the  middle of my 2nd week and as I sat here today thinking back on the rest o the day and can honestly say I didn't miss or think about having a smoke at all.  I am waiting for the demon to strike (not caving to it though) but just seems this has been almost too easy......anybody else have similar experiences?  Or could it be that I really was that sick and tired of smoking......oh yeah, lol, bet the Champix is helping too, lol....... oh well was trying to put in a pic, but couldn't do it, couldn't figure it out and wouldn't work, oh welllllllllllllllll, any help there also would be good, lol.....
