HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

HAPPY QUIT DAY!!!!!!!!

Quitting is not easy - but it is doable. Hang in there through the tough times. Take 10 really deep breaths and let them out really slow. Seems to mimick smoking and trigger some relief in me..... Fight the craves and stay close to the SSC boards.

We are all here for you and we all want you to make it!!!!!

Good luck!!!

Congrats on making it here. We quit on the same day so we can walk this road together!

Yeah last night I was also very aggrevated at not being able to smoke and didn't know what to do. Keep a glass of water with you (apparently ice water helps even better) and from the advice I got, when you feel upset take a hot bath or a shower.

Anyway physical exercise works very well when you get upset and also the relaxing methods of breathing in deep.. 5 seconds... and breathing out for 5 seconds.. slowly for a couple of times while relaxing all your muscles.

Good luck!

Hi Popsmom

Have you read through the program and worked through the toolbook yet?  Welcome.  Lots of good folks here to share info with and get support.  Distractions will be key the first few days.  Hang in there and just take it a moment at a time for now.

Good thoughts your way...................Moss

Hi ev1 and congrats to all those that have and are quitting.....I finally got fed up with smoking, tired of it, tired of my daughters
reaction when I lit up.  Most of my friends don't smoke, so not a social problem, bought them cheap so wasn't financial, just tired of it and huffing and puffing and no energy.  Starting Champix 11 days ago and set yesterday (my bday) as the perfect day to quit.  I had an awesome day, puttering, watching movies and didn't bother me at all not smoking......I totally avoided my usual smoking chair.  Supper time came and all heck seemed to break loose.  I couldn't get past the constant thinking of having a smoke, thought I was going out of my mind.  Finally made it to sleep and woke today in about the same condition, constantly thinking of it....am going mad, I sat here reading your posts, hot flashes hitting and the verge of tears, OMG this is sooooooo difficult, but my daughter sits here close by and that seems to keep me sitting in front of the computer and not venturing out away from here to sneak one......guess I just didn't realize how difficult it was going to be, but am trying very very hard to be strong.  I smoked for about 27 yrs, so guess it isn't going to be easy....thanks for the ears/eyes/shoulders to lean on, I look forward to spending more time working my way around the site and doing ALOT of reading.....off to find something to naw on, lol.....
