Confused, spinning, rocketing up and down......

And to add to this, when I would fly into an unfamiliar airport, I would log on and find out where (if possible) I could smoke. I would literally plan it out.  If there wasn't a smoking room in the airport, I would go and check in at the counter and check in luggage, then I would have ticket in hand and walk right back out to smoke until I had to go through security.  PATHETIC but I did it ever time I flew.

anxious1,

Don't be too hard on yourself. Think of the future and of yourself as a non smoker.

Keep up the great work!

Kelly dont feel too horrible as  I was like it too- I know every designated smoking area in every Disney park sadly. And we used to take our daughter in and she would have to wait for us. I dont think we ever passed a smoking area without stopping. And yes I would have been like the wet cigs woman too- not with the profanities but I would have been furious!!

CD- the other day I was walking through the village I live in and outside one of the cafe bars in the smoking area (UK has banned smoking in all public places) was a group of women all smoking and there in the centre was a stroller with a toddler age child in it.
I can honestly say I believe when I smoked I would not have noticed this- but this time I was horrified in fact I said to my husband it looked disgusting- I am definitely seeing the world through a non-smokers eyes- and smoking behaviours are not pleasant to observe at all.

This post really makes me sad and feel guilty and horrible.  It was one of the things that we used to do, and I hated it when we did it.  At Disney or Universal Studios, carrying aroung the park map to peg out the smoking areas.  I always had to take my kids along with us when they were younger, when they got older I would have them stand away, but close enough where we could see them.  I always felt horrible about that.  And yes, I would have felt just like the woman with the wet cigs, however, I don't think I would have vocalized it so publically, but I would have been frantic in the same way.  I still get frantic sometimes and I think...where did that come from!!  It really shows you how terrible the addiction is, it rules your life.

Glad you had a good day!!

I feel the same way now, CD!  Seeing people all messed up in their nicotine addiction now reminds me of the final scene in the movie Carnal Knowledge where Jack Nicholson's character has reached his deepest level of dissipation/decadence and his one-time best friend (Art Garfunkel) and girlfriend (Carol Kane) are leaving him in his moral quagmire of self-loathing... is that too strong a feeling of sadness for those who are still being shaken to flitters by the Big Black Dog Nicotine??!!
Thanks for the clarity of those images of angry wet-cigarette mothers and poor parents in smoking 'shelters' trying to mind their kids in a fantasyland park!   So strange... who needs fiction??

I don't know where this quote came from... I just know that it often fits ...

"There; but for the grace of God,  Go I ".     those people could have been any one of us... not long ago.

Addiction.... yes addiction will make us  REACT...

I still have craves... and I try to picture .... situations, reactions, etc in my mind.

Sounds like you had a great time CybrDuke!
I agree, it is sad when people smoke around their children, and as for that one woman, I think she needs to come to this site!
Glad to hear that you are doing so well, keep up the great work!

Hi all -

We had a great day. Lots of fun. We had about an hour of rain in the early afternoon but that was fine, we just stopped and had some lunch, when it ended the park was not crowded at all. It was a nice family day for us.

I felt a few interesting emotions.... As you go in there are big signs that say smoking is not permitted in the park except in designated smoking areas. As we were walking around I saw a few of these areas. Basically a set of benches set back from thr crowd. Each time I saw these areas, they were full of people puffing away. Here's what made me feel bad....

In several cases, there wer little kids with these people. The kids were at an amusement park, and naturally wanted to run around and do things. Instead, they were sitting in a circle of smokers being told to be quiet while mommy/daddy has a cigarette. I swear I felt like shaking some of these people and asking them what in God's name they were thinking, however, that's not my place, it's not for me to judge. It was just sad to see.

There's a ride called the Boston tea party. You get wet on this ride. It's a ton of fun. I watched one women leaving that ride madder than a hornet that her cigarettes had gotten wet and there's no place in the park to get any..... She was literally swearing in front of kids and people she didn't know she was so angry. Wow. Nic was fully in control of her. I almost bet they left early because she didn't have smoking material anymore. Again, sad.

I had a couple of craves during the day, but nothing I could not deal with. I sailed through it and the observations of the smokers only served to strengthen my resolve to stay quit. I won't ever give Nic that kind of power over me again. Ever.

Enjoy your day everyone - you're all winners in my book.

KEEP THE QUIT!!!!
