Hi Everybody,

I am Lolly’s / Carol’s other half and firstly wish to thank you for the incredible messages and support that you have sent – with these, and her own, positive vibes the outlook can only be successful !!!!!!

Secondly, here is an update on her progress; Carol had major surgery on Thursday and will come out of intensive care this afternoon when she is transferred to our other local hospital where the pneumo specialist can keep an eye on her.

The surgeon drained a lot of fluid from the pleura around her lung and put in talc powder to prevent the liquid from returning.  He also found liquid in the tumour itself - very rare and unusual (but with Carol could you expect anything else?) which he removed along with part of the wall of the tumour for lab work.  This little bugger is proving to be very difficult to identify and bits of it have been sent all over the place to various laboratories.

Unfortunately he was unable to remove the tumour as it is attached to her left lung and it would have been too dangerous to attempt to remove it because of her current breathing difficulty.  He has implanted the chemotherapy box under her skin and Carol will start chemo and/or radiation to shrink the tumour when she has recovered from this surgery.  It is possible that this follow-up treatment may even destroy the tumour and further surgery may not be necessary - fingers crossed !!

Thanks again for all your support.

Graham
