Quitting is Impossible. I always thought quitting was impossible especially for someone like me. I had tried a million times and had yet to succeed. I finally decided that was it for me. I was going to quit smoking and for once I would succeed. The first week I thought I would go insane! Hell week they called it and it lived up to its name. I saw all around me the people on this site, Who somehow had succeeded in getting through the fight. I began to wonder if these people could make it through, Was it slightly possible that I might make it too? I kept marching forward, refusing to give in to those awful junkie thoughts calling me home again. Week two referred as Heck week wasnt much better. This is the week I wrote my cigarettes a goodbye letter. Time and time again NOPE was the phrase I heard. Not one puff ever was the only way to be cured. As long as I didnt light that next cigarette, I too could be free, from the terrible addiction that for 23 years haunted me. They say it takes 12 to 18 months to get over smoking It seemed like forever and I thought Youve go to be joking! There was no way I would ever make it because I missed my friend. My cigarette was my companion and without it I had to learn to live again. The smokes were my best friend through the good times and the bad. Through the years they provided comfort like nothing else had. To live with the new emotions I felt was more than I could bare, Each day I learned new ways to cope with the help of those that care. Climbing quit mountain was awfully hard to do, People pushed and pulled to help me make it through. The SSC was the place the battle was won Without this site, I still wouldnt be done. My life now doesnt involve the smokes and the thoughts are very rare, I wouldnt have made it through had the SSC not been there. Quitting isnt impossible it just seems that way. When you are caught up in an addiction that controls your every day. Take it one day a time. You can climb the mountain too. Experiencing the freedom is the best thing you will ever do.
