There are several things that have worked for me...
1st being water. Early in my quit I made sure that I had a bottle of ice cold water with me everywhere. Whenever I had a crave I would turn up the water bottle. This not only helped the craves, but is also helped to clear the toxins out of my body and helped me with my weight control! AND, a year later I still drink water and feel so good!
I found that anything I could do with my hands could help the craves.. So, coming here and posting was a huge help... but I also went out and bought a hand held Suduko game. I had never played Suduko, but with this handheld game I learned, and I was able to use my hands to play and hopefully that was retraining my brain.
Chewing gum didn't really help me, neither did hard candy... I don't know why but it didn't work as well for me as the water...
