Emotional Rollercoaster!!!!

Hi, Welcome to the SSC, The first day is a goody...there is never a good time to quit except NOW. Sorry about your brother. I wish him a speedy recovery. You will be so proud of yourself in so many different ways that I can not express them all in one post. I didn't like the fact that I had to quit to breath. I felt sorry for me and I cryed alot. I listened to the good folks here on this site and one day at a time I have been smoke free for almost 9 months (will be on the 4th). I can't began to tell you how much I have gained while I thought I was loosing something. It is an addiction and the sooner you admit that to yourself the easier it is to fight it. A positive attitude is a must. I suggest you drink lots of cold water, cleanse the body. Exercise helps, smoking is not an option. Repeat it to yourself. Smoking is not an option. smlfree, You're going through a lot right now and it's normal to be more sensitive and emotional at this time. It's important to make time for yourself and to reward yourself along the way. Come post often and read all the information you can. Keep persevering! Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

SM I hope you are ok. Have you done any preparation for the quit? If you haven't please go through the workbook and the exercises here. They will serve as a distraction and you will learn about some of the skills you can use to get through the roughest parts. If your kids are old enough, tell them the truth about what is happening and ask for their understanding. Hang in there and know that you are not alone. SM - Congratulations on making a really hard and really wonderful decision to quit. And, you've made it throug the first day -- that's a huge accomplishment! To be really honest - the emotional rollercoaster will last for a while - so hold on tight - it's quit a wild ride. But the good news is that the rollercoaster IS manageable and you won't "lose it" - you'll just feel close ;p. We are all here for you. The SSC has my biggest & most effective support. Your thoughts may play tricks on you, but remember these two things:(1) You CAN stay quit (2) Smoking is not an option. Period. End of Discussion. I find myself up and down all day i have only been smoke free for one day. i quit cold turkey after my brother had to have open heart surgery this weekend ( five bi-passes) and he was in perfect health and only 42 years old. i have made an appt. to see a doctor to get a check up but i'm very scared to see what they will see.i figured the first step was to stop smoking but was it the right time because of all the stess dealing with my brother and all. any advice will be helpful. i hope the emotional break downs don't last to long my kids think i'm loosing it.
