34 days and not so strong

Hi Lalew! Well you have 34 smoke free days to help boost you for this stress! Start by writing down some self talk on cards that you can go into your romm and read when needed. Examples: I am the one in control of my life. I am the victor not the victim! I am a strong non smoker and no one can make me smoke! (You see the theme) Next plan ahead by having cold water, gum, straws, hard candy, whatever is your fav for back up when you get stressed. Terry is right. They can only make you feel bad if you let them do it, so don't! (You are the one who controls your own happiness!) You can get through this, you ARE strong! You're a member of the SSC and you have all these wonderful quitters here to help you do it! You go girl! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 386 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,650 Amount Saved: $4,072.30 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 17 Mins: 53 Seconds: 12

Hang in there... Terry is right NO one can Make you smoke.. Smoking is not going to change a thing.. The in laws are still coming. unless you suggest a motel... Can you plan some sight seeing, a play or movie, a night at a resturant? Can you somehow turn this negative into a positive. We all have parents... and they won't be around forever. Would it possible to have a counselor come over when they are there? Maybe it is time to get things on the table ... and clear the air. I don't think we are aloud to post sites on here. Allen Carr has a book you can maybe put "Allen Carr's Easy To Stop Smoking" in your search bar.. you cam read it on line or .. get the book at a bookstore. I just started reading it.. Other people here have recommended it. Just hang onto this Quit, IT is YOUR quit and we are proud of you here... Someone once told me that we can't really expect people to give us applause for doing things that we are supposed to be doing in the first place. It's hard when people we love don't support or understand what we are doing. I think that ultimately they do see it, but what is the most important is what we feel about it ourselves and how we feel about ourselves. Bottom line, we only have to please one person and that is the one looking back at us in the mirror. It's great to be a non smoker. Keep up the good work and keep posting. Thank you for your reply. Not much support from a non-smoking family. I feel like I have been out on an Iceberg since I quit, a lot grumpy, no wonder the non-smoking family doesn't want to be around me! I am a little better than I was a while ago. I am going to make it to smoke free freedom!! Lalew, try to remember that not one single person on this earth has the power to make anyone feel anyway. We have a choice and you can choose to not smoke too! Take a walk when you need too, get some ice water when you need too! Remember always it's your quit and your choice. I'm behind ya 100%, I too have 30 something days. I think it's 36. If you've been quit that long then you can decide that you have had your last smoke. It's as easy as a choice, a decision. Just do it. Terry P.S. Good Luck with the inlaws My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 37 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 370 Amount Saved: $55.50 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 7 Mins: 13 Seconds: 0

My biggest trigger called today and told us that they would be here Friday. My Mother-in-law and Father-in-law put so much stress on my husband that it causes him physical illness, which in turn stresses me to the max. My husband then turns into a huge whinny baby that would rather make my life hell than stand up to the real problem. Huge 13 year history of miserable times that we go on pretending that our obligation is being met by making all involved miserable. And wanting to smoke. Ok, I am venting and still wanting to smoke. It has been 34 days since I went cold turkey, without much of a plan. I had the flu that turned into pneumonia. I was five days into no nicotine and thought that I might as well keep it up since I already felt like crap anyway. I had smoked a pack a day for twenty years, minus seven years ago before I got pregnate, and during the 10 months that I breast fed. Then, for some dumb reason I started smoking again. I so wish I would have just stayed quit!!TextTextTextText My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/20/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 680 Amount Saved: $119.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 7 Mins: 24 Seconds: 44
