Anyone else out there quit with the gum?

You're a mental blockhouse, Gay, on the shores of your Republic of Health, fighting off the nicodemons (the smokey one for sure!) and I think you're great! You with your PMA know how to bounce back from bad days like yesterday with a vengeance... I hope your family appreciates you!! patrick My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/18/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,375 Amount Saved: $618.75 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 7 Mins: 47 Seconds: 40

Oh, you know we all have those days, but the sun is shining, work has letup a bit, hubby and kids are out of the house, so it is just me and Mom and things always look better in the morning! I have given her her bath and gotten her breakfast and pills and she is "watching" TV. (for those of you that would like to experience blindness, try sitting thru one half hour show, listen to the commercials, no peeking, and try to figure out what is going on)! An interesting test for all of us! I am fine..and not even chewing gum! haHa!! Thanks once again for all the support! Morning, Cabbage! Yes, I used the gum. I used the lowest dose possible and chewed it for about 3 weeks, then, just decided I did not need it. Yesterday was a horrible day, 12 hr work day, home to care for my invalid mother, family fighting over stupid stuff....and I thought, Wow! I need a piece of gum! Now, how funny is that? I did not think I need a cigarette, but I did need a piece of gum...and I went to the medicine cabinet and got one! I would rather feel I was "cheating" with a piece of gum than having smoke go into my lungs. I am sure there will be others that will disagree, but it was OK with me. It really was a very crummy day :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 936 Amount Saved: $198.90 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 7 Mins: 10 Seconds: 8

Hi, I feel like I'm unusual in that I used the nic gum to quit this time. I chose the gum because it gave me control over how much nicotine I had in my system at any given time. If I was really in trouble I could have another piece, if I was coasting, then I could skip a few pieces. I guess the feeling of having at least a bit of power helped me to not feel so swept up in the withdrawal. I admit, though, that I used the gum for a long time - probably around 6 months, but by that time I was only having a piece once a week or so. I was lucky, the craves just got less and less on their own...and so I used less and less gum until I couldn't even be sure of when I had the last piece. Has anyone else had this experience with the gum?
