Does a full moon have anything to do with panic?

thanks Wrestler and Henna for the replies. I didn't sleep last night much either - and i didn't have another full blown panic thankfully but I was shaky for some time after and right now feel good but hope the lack of sleep doesn't stir things up again but those negative thoughts cause me anxiety LOL so I'm going to take today one step at a time and if I feel I need sleep I'm coming home to sleep.

Hi mommzay, I'd never thought about the lunar cycle in connection with depression before - all I know is, yesterday depression hit me bigtime, and after a couple of better than average days too. I woke up feeling like a heavy black cloud had descended €“ felt trapped, with no way out and no hope of finding one. Still do; it hasn€™t lifted. Everything€™s too much effort €“ even replying to you folks is an effort. Still anxious yet, bizarrely, few out and out panic attacks. It€™s like they€™ve been overwhelmed by the depression. Crazy or what? The idea of a connection is an interesting one. The belief that the moon can affect one's mental state has been around for a long time. It€™s where the word €˜lunatic€™ comes from - patients€™ symptoms were seen to noticeably worse at the time of full moon. Which makes you wonder, why not anxiety and depression? Wonder if anyone€™s done any research? Hang in there, Henna

I have heard where full moons do have an effect on a lot of people. A girl I just met teaches 1st graders and her kids were acting up yesterday. She wondered if it was the full moon. I did not sleep the greatest last night and was ancy most of the night. I felt panicky last night, just a little, but did not have to take any valium. I have been taking "nerve sleep." It's a natural liguid that you take with water. Made from a bunch of herbs, flowers and roots. It could all be the full moon as well. David

I know it sounds stupid but man I'm really frustrated with this and am depressed like I've not been ever in my lifetime. I've always been postive about my panic but geesh I've just gone over 25 days (not a single one in January) without panic and managing my anxiety and all heck broke loose today. For the last 9 hours I have had panic attack on top of panic attack and they have been major!!! It began with me feeling like somebody was sitting on my chest and throat. I've not eaten. I can't swallow I know eating will probably help because an empty stomach is no good when you're panicking and get the shakes. My heart has been racing. I've been self talking myself, praying and pacing all day. I've just had my first 1/2 hour of feeling somewhat relaxed but the oxymoron is I'm very anxious - I mean how the hell can I say I'm relaxed but I'm anxious? I mean I know or feel that for the last 30 minutes I'm not going to die in the next 10 minutes but I'm worried about the 10 minutes after that. Now I keep telling myself maybe there is some relationship to the full moon because I see other people have had major setbacks too in the last 24 hours and I know I've heard many doctors, police officers and other professionals say a full moon night is a weird night. Does anybody have any info?
