Great discussion guys. I saw that Oprah show as well, Windy. I hadn't been that long and needed all the help I could get. The only time I might see a cigarette is if my daughter comes home on the weekends. Hubby and son quit 3 years ago. Phil, glad you squashed that temptation. And price....whew! They keep going up all the time. I was watching the Oprah show with Doctor Oz talking to people who were quitting smoking. I thought it was a great show because it showed how hard it is to quit but I wanted to stand up and shout when he said that the woman would fail if her husband didn't quit smoking (because I don't believe that is true!!) My hubbie still smokes (although he takes it outside). However, he has even smoked (with my permission) in the truck on long trips. I still have triggers now and then but the fact that he smokes is not one of them. The reason I am not smoking is because I decided not to smoke and (honestly) it had very little to do with him. This quit has been all about me, me, me (And putting up with me for the first three months would probably drive someone to smoke!) You are right though Phil...our triggers might be different but they will always be there every once in a while... I have had to handle them on the odd occasion, as my son in law smokes as does one of my daughters, so they have been in my house or on my counter, and they are also on my co-worker's desk right now. I had to get over the fact that they are going to be around, that's too bad, I will have to learn how to handle it. Smoking is still far too common place that it is going to happen. We just have to remember NOPE! We don't smoke anymore, and the poison belongs to someone else! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 371 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,275 Amount Saved: $3,914.05 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 17 Mins: 54 Seconds: 32

Oh man, handling a fresh pack of smokes almost did me in last Christmas. I bought a pack for a client as a little Xmas gesture, my old brand on top of it all! I must have stared at that pristine pack for 2 minutes, and then decided out of sight out of mind and locked them up in my mailbox until the next day when I gave them away. What a huge trigger that was! I'm so glad you made it through your trial by fire and as for cravings coming out of the blue always and forever....I'm thinking you're right. Keeping my guard up is sososo important and so easily forgotten. all the best to you today, smoking is not an option My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 548 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,920 Amount Saved: $10,960.00 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 18 Mins: 15 Seconds: 42

Hi gang I know I am a clown but I think clowning around has helped get me this far (but not as much as some of the lovely people I have met here) I just want all those people who are asking 'when will the craving go away?' to realise that it never (if 580 days is never in my experience ) goes way completely. You will always have the odd twinge or sometimes a big fat crave they just get less. Now to the important bit..... DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO ANY SMOKING MATERIALS JUST IN CASE!!! I picked up some cigs for my son this morning (first time I have touched a pack in 19 months) and I was tempted ,Nice shimy clean packet only the cost put me off completely 10 dollars 40 cents for 20!! I hated going into that shop and hated even more handling the pack I wont do that again!!! me xx My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 580 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,760 Amount Saved: 3,045.00 Life Gained: Days: 116 Hrs: 23 Mins: 7 Seconds: 25
