Today I turn fifty! The big 5-0! I think I've been anticipating this day for all of the last year. And not really in a positive way. :( However, the last few weeks, something inside has started to shift. I started thinking about this birthday in a way I can't really describe. And I know its all because I am smokefree. Smokefree in a way I've never been before. Does that make sense? I said it when I was 30, I said it when I was 40. I will quit smoking when I'm ... Didn't happen. Lived with the "doomsday' feelings I had as a smoker. No wonder I was always somewhat depressed! Future never really looked very good cause , for me, there was always fear. Fear of dying a horrible, self-induced death. So at that time turning 50 only meant that I was getting old. More of the same. Today, I can say with all honesty that I look forward to whatever tomorrow may hold with excitement and wonder. I MADE IT TO FIFTY!!!!! Today, life is good! :) Thanks SSC.
