Congrats on day 2.. you will be on day 3 when you read this. I am a left coaster...lol I have ALWAYS been in "awe" of glass blowing, from the little glass animals at fairs etc. I went thru the Corning Glass plant in 1976. I had some more "vivid" dreams, for a week. no bad or frightening dreams. I have been on one alprazolam (xanax) about an hour before bedtime for years (since right side stroke). so that may be helping me.. I was spacey and felt kind of...loopy for a few days also.. It does go away. and you realize that you think More clearly without the nicotine and feeding the "demon" I hit a couple bad days.. I think around day 4 and 9. crabby... emotional times.. it didn't last the entire day.. and I realized it was emotions that I have probably been covering up with nicotine and the junkie.. trying to get nicotine. Just keep thinking N O P E ( not one puff EVER EVER EVER ..) there is NO such thing as one puff. Keep your water & mints, gum or ?? handy ..... this too shall pass....LOL keep posting and reading.. I let my triggers get control today, but thinking of the site and people I have made friends with here. I didn't want to lose friendship, I didn't want to start that quit meter back to ZERO My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 425 Amount Saved: $66.94 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 17 Mins: 6 Seconds: 27

CONGRATULATIONS on Day 2! I had about 2 weeks with crazy vivid dreams and i didn't use Chantix. I think it is from nicotine withdrawal. I also felt spacey and kinda drugged for the first 3 days, also from nicotine withdrawal. You are doing great so far, keep up the good work and stay strong! Good morning gang!!! Day 2 and I'm guessing my craving level might be a 5 so far as compared to previously attempted quits! It's gotta be the Chantix that's keeping the cravings managable!! I do have more wierd dreams that wake me up, but up until last night I was able to get back to sleep easily. I also get a bit of the "acid belly" during the night, but I have had that at times before the Chantix. I keep my rolaids, Pepcid and water at arms length!!! I lost a couple of hours of sleep last night, so consequently I'm feeling a bit "spacy" today. Almost better than having a bloody mary for breakfast on the weekend!!! I do hope that it goes away once I pick up my torch!!! ;p Other than that, I feel like kicking some of that Nico-demon butt today!!! I hope that you all have the same feeling and have a very enjoyable time doing it! Your support and kind words are really helpful and is the one thing that I think is helping me the most! Thank you and keep it up!!! As for your question, Ron, I work at a university in the chemistry department. I make custom designed glass apparatus for research purposes. You know, the things that they can't buy out of a catalog. I also fix their glassware when they break it, if it isn't too far gone! (My mentor's name was also Ron.) It really is a neat job and I like to play with fire! Any more questions, I'll be happy to answer them! Anyways, time to get off my duff and light the torch! Have a great smoke free day, everyone!!! It's really great seeing you new guys doing so well and cheering each other along. It takes a lot of effort to keep a quit. Your support really makes the quit meaningful, as well as knowing a path to a healthier life means something to people that we've never met. Keep up the good work!! Hi Jim first of all welcome to the site .. it has been a real life saver for me and reading your posts since I'm still fairly new has really helped me in remembering why I quit (which I needed today) My husband and I both quit with Champix and he has quit Champix altogether now, I did also but found the cravings so strong that I got back on it. I have tried many aids and have found Champix the most effective for me and that I have QUIT and will never smoke again. My neighbour had also quit 5 months prior and was so mad at us because we were not experiencing the same pain and frustrations that he went through when he quit. This site it totally awesome and seems to have the support needed to get through. Welcome March quitters ... you can really do this (with a little help from these friends) ! Now I can say with this quit that I have good days and bad ... but more are good ! Keep the quit its well worth it .. Hey Jim, What a great accomplishment getting through that first day!(Which I did 5 days ago)-- It did make me say to myself --I can do this + that it is do-able. Alot of water, deep breathing and staying as busy as I can have been most helpful to me. Frequently visiting this site has also helped--enjoying and learning from the wisdom of those who have conquered the beast, and hearing that it is certainly possible to work through the cravings. NOPE--Wishing you another great smoke-free day, my new friend & quit partner... Hi Jim, Glad you made it through work. What helped me was indetifing my triggers.. 2 biggies.. hunger and when I get tired. I keep a bottle of water with me.. colder is better, but when I got a crave, i drank water. after a few days.. the taste of cigareetes will be gone ..from your mouth, etc.. I also found the flavor of cinnamon helped me. We are here for you.. the chantix is a big help .. well it has been for me. I picked up my "refill today.. 23 days... and counting My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/10/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 408 Amount Saved: $64.26 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 13 Mins: 20 Seconds: 54

Hey Jim! Welcome to the site! What really worked for me was (and is) coming here daily to read all i can about what withdrawals etc. i could expect. Getting the support that i needed from the wonderful people here, pulling me thru the trouble times. AND keeping my mind and hands busy during those times that i thought "i just can't do this". I wish you the best on your smoke free journey! Well, I made it through the work day and I didn't even strangle the 2 grad students who were here for the last 45 minutes while I tried to figure out what they really needed! The cravings really hit me after they finally left! I know... breath deep... I am doing just that!!! I guess it's time to get out of here and go home and see what kind of trouble I can get into there!! Hopefully I can make it through the evening without too much trouble and complete 1 whole smoke free day!!! Thank you everyone for your support and advice! I'll be back after a while to give you an update!!!
